Great Service, Awesome Owner, Let the Harold Haters Hate 10/1/2011

I don't know what the previous reviewer's issue was with Harold, but I have never had issues with Dambly's. My husband and I have used the store for years and his parents under the store for years before that. Being from New Jersey, they enjoyed the local store. \r \r I've never experienced issues with Harold, perhaps the reviewer was not on his best behavior that day so he wasn't shown the niceness he thought he deserved. I don't think it is a person's job to sugar coat everything for an angry customer if they don't show some humility. \r \r I've never experienced Harold as a money hungry person. Sure their prices are a little high, but they are locally owned, not a big chain, so they are expected to be. Don't let that one review turn you away from Dambly's or Harold. Harold even helped us find the cheapest way to fix the lawn full of weeds that is our lawn--since we bought a foreclosure. \r \r Let the Harold Haters Hate, but Dambly's is a good store. more

Good Selection , fantastic staff - Very expensive 5/14/2011

This place has one of the best selections inf plants bar none. And their staff are just some of the best trained attendants anywhere. they're knowlegeable, courteous and very helpful. The staff have so much knowledge about the plants it seems they have degrees in horticulture or botany. Because of their prices I barely buy there, but I still go just to see whats out there and to get ideas of what plants to buy elsewhere. more

Great people...very helpful 4/3/2010

I've been going to Dambly's since moving to Berlin 5 years ago. Yes they are more expensive than say Produce Junction for flats of annuals but if you don't know what to get, somebody there can help you. Do the cheap places have that?? The staff is friendly, courteous and KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! You get what you pay for. And they have nice stuff. You want to buy impatients and put them in full sun to burn up, go to WalMart, I'm sure the staff there will be happy to let you make that mistake. I've purchased everything from annuals, to mums to stone and mulch there and have never had a complaint. All the bushes and shrubs I got are still alive and doing well......(that's going some for me). Thanks Dambly's people for being so nice and helpful thru the years and all my projects. \r Crazy redhead with tired husband......you all know who I am!!!!. more

Dambly's is a good garden center 10/7/2009

His displays are oh so beautiful and the employees are helpful. The kids like the holiday selections and we like having family time while we are getting stuff done. The plants are high quality and he delivers his mulch right on time. A good place. more

RIP OFF CENTER 5/12/2009

I have given this place so much money over the last few years because I support local business. Harold, the ignorant money hungry owner, made me wait over an hour to refund a $25 part which was given to me incorrectly. Secondly, all the pond supplies I have purchased there...the limping money hungry pig would not even honor a warranty or even help me out. Having a landscaping business, I trusted in Dambly's....no more...I will go elsewhere guaranteed. Thanks Harold, all you care about is $, not the customer more

Brilliant workers! 11/23/2008

I've been to Dambly's several times this past summer for fertilizer, insecticide, and vole control. The guy that helped me with the voles actually pulled out to chairs and had us sit down while he went through the whole history of voles, scientific tests, etc. He ended the conversation by bringing me a few packets of what he considers the best vole control poison. Even when he did this he would not let me get up, and waited on me as if I were in a restaurant. i was impressed at his vast knowledge, enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge, and courtesy. Another guy must have gone through every fertilizer in the store, giving me pros and cons, mentioning which were organic and which were not. He explained how each worked. He took a lot of time with me, and answered every question. He was like a dictionary of horticultural terms. I've never gone into a garden center before and spoke to people that knew so much about their products, as well as horticultural facts. more

Knowledge is power 10/6/2008

I've been going to Dambly's since I moved to the area 15 years ago. All the employees have been more than helpful over the years. If you have any problems with your lawn or are jealous of your neighbors, your neighbors are talking to Dale. Alice is always sweet to my family and me and Harold, the owner,is willing to go the distance to see that you are satisfied. There is always something going on at Dambly's. Last weekend the Face Painting Fairy gave us such an education on polar bears and penguins - she is a must see, and so kind and gentle with my kids. I'm looking forward to November when the Reindeer, Santa and Elf come back. What a Christmas fantasy here - blows away G-boys and other so called Christmas villages. There is no better Santa than the Dambly's Santa, he takes his time with each kid and makes it special - not just a money making picture taking Santa, it's a bring your own camera and take your family time Santa experience. You can't believe the Elf Painter is real, right more

wow quite the contrary 10/5/2008

After hearing Damblys colorful ad on the radio about their mum fest, i had to get directions. I checked out this site too and decided i had to revisit to post my experience at Damblys. When i got there the place was really busy. I can see why! The mums were huge and the choices were plenty. I walked around the property it was absolutely beautiful. There was a huge selection of shrubs and trees and all at 50% off. (thought they didn't have sales) I saw families enjoying the fall fest activities, they had hayrides, gourd hunts, free popcorn and a face painter. I wished my kids were still young. It was really cute!! I talked to several employees and they were really nice. When I finally walked inside the store I couldn't believe all the Halloween and fall decorations they had. They had the most beautiful custom silk wreaths, and more candles then i had time to smell. What a selection! The radio ad wasn't joking about being the envy of your neighbors!!! After just an hour of strolling arou more

Harold, the owner is a PIG. Even though his plants look nice consider this. He buys in all his flowers and doesn't grow one thing. He is 3 xs the price than the other smaller garden centers that grow their own flowers. He is his prices compared to a small garden center/ farm market in AUGUST, a month before the season is over.\r \r 10" Terracotta Combo Planters-\r Damblys- $49.99 each\r Other Place- $18.99 Buy 1 get 1 Free. \r \r 4 1/2 " Pots off assorted herbs\r Damblys- $3.99 each\r Other Place- $.89 each\r \r 10" Scavolia Hanging Basket\r Damblys- $24.99 each\r Other place- $7.99 two for $15.00\r \r Before you spend your money there, shop around other places because he is 2xs higher than most other places in south jersey area. more

This nursery carries a huge array of trees, bushes, and flowering plants. They also sell garden accessories. The staff is knowledgeable. I found though that they are much more expensive than other area nurseries. more

A Great Place 9/9/2005

Since I was a kid I've been going to Dambly's. In the spring I go for getting annuals and peat moss, in the summer I go for bulbs, in the fall for shrubs, and I live there in the winter for all there great activities around Christmas. You have the live reindeer, Santa, Christmas town, it's great. If you want a high quality Christmas tree, and your lazy like me and don't want to take it down until like the middle of January then buy one here. There about what you expect to pay for a tree, and the one I had last year lasted about 2 months (yes, I'm that bad). Just come to look at the pond displays, you'll think your in a park. more
