Best Daycare You Could Ever Ask For!!! 2/19/2011

I had to create an account just so I could post a review of this place. I LOVED this place when I was little. I wanted to be there all day, every day. It was my favorite place in the world, next to home, of course. I remember playing out on the playground, learning songs, painting, eating, talking to my friends, playing games. I had so much fun there. I still have my class picture, and I have so many memories of those kids and the staff. I am thirteen years old now and Dale Sikes was fundamental in my learning growth. Because of them, when I moved on to my Kindergarten class, I was already prepared and was able to skip kindergarten and go straight to first grade. All because of Dale Sikes! I remember my last day there, and I was so sad to have to go. After that every time we would drive by I would wave to it. I even visited once and they remembered me.... this place is the best, they have great teachers and your child actually learns something! Take it from me, Dale Sikes started me out on the right foot. I am going into 9th grade next year, a grade ahead of other kids my age, and taking AP and Honors classes. I definitely attribute a good amount of this to Dale Sikes. Send your child here, you won't regret it and they will love you all the more for it!! more

Wish I Could Go Back For Just 5 Mins......... 8/26/2010

Hey Guys, I just want to say how much I loved that Place, I'm 14 and lived in Lilburn for the majority of my life and since I was 3 I called Dale Sikes my Home Away from Home. All the staff are great. I currently live in Ireland and wish I could visit again. Oh and LilburnMon below my post, If your children had some manners than maybe they might not have been sent home, it doesn't happen very often and when your child is screaming crying there isn't much they can do. Hope this post helps some parents out there. more

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED 2/25/2010

wow!!! I was very impressed with this school when I took the tour but once I rolled my child there, I realized I made the biggest mistake. With all the experience they brag about, they could not stop my child from crying. I was asked to pick her up. I enrolled her in another school and it has been two weeks and she wants to go to school even on SATURDAYS!!!! thats how happy she is at this new school! very very disappointed with Dale Sikes! my neighbor warned me but I didnt listen. I should have! Cons: many!!!!!!!!! more

The best daycare from generation to generation 1/13/2009

I went to day care at Dale Sikes many years ago as a child. My mother back then was always raving about the care I was receiving while I was there to everyone she talked to. As a mother know, I fully understand why it was such a big deal to her. As a very overcautious and protective mother I was very excited to return when I needed a trustworthy day care. My daughter gets so excited to go to school. They are very structured throughout the day and learn new things all of the time. They are not just running around while someone is ""watching"" them. The teachers are very helpful and loving to the children. The facility always smells amazing!! They have homemade balanced meals, which is so very important. Not the usual fish stick and fries menu that I have seen at other places. They have a personal relationship with every family at the school. They even remembered me by name almost twenty years after I went there! I would not trust any other school with my child. They are amazing and I can't thank them enough for the peace of mind I get while I am at work. Pros: Everything!!!! Food, learning, care, clean, staff, ect. Cons: They do not take children younger than one :-( more

They treat your child like their own. YOU WILL NEVER FIND A BETTER DAY CARE!!! 8/16/2008

I previously posted my initial review, listed below, on 02/19/2007 under dcedeno. I pulled up the listing to show a friend the information on the school, as a referral, when we came across the review stating they do not care for blacks. I immediately became infuriated by the allegation. It's funny because I feel like I am defending family! I had to create a separate Citysearch account to post my second comment! My son Sean has been attending the school since he was 9 months old and he has now begun his first year of kindergarten, in which Dale Sikes drops him off and picks him up before and after school. (Just another example of how great they are!) Sean is a beautiful mix of two minorities. I, his mother, am Puerto Rican, and his father is black. Although he is a well educated & upstanding black man, he has the braids, the baggy pants, and the stereotypical ""hip hop"" persona that is commonly discriminated against. He and the all staff, including Ms. Mickey and Mrs. Sikes get along great. They laugh, joke, and talk with each other everyday. They are constantly complimenting him on what a great dad he is. The staff there is a good mix of Blacks, Whites, and Hispanics. He and I love them all as they love the children they care for. The student population is also an assortment of everyday America. Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, you name the race and it is a part of the student population, and can you believe that Mrs. Sikes knows them ALL by name!?! I just had another baby and I can't wait until he is old enough to attend the school! Please, next time you post something, be sure to have all the proper information!\r \r Pros: The Pros are to long to list, but the best thing is the feeling of relief knowing your children are in a loving and safe environment. Cons: NONE! more

Very Friendly and Caring Staff, Lots of space to play in clutter free rooms, very organized, child friendly 4/15/2008

After visiting 6 - 8 daycares looking for a place for my granddaughter, nothing compared to Dale Sikes Day School! My 2 year old granddaughter used to cry every time I would drop her off at her old daycare, now she looks forward to going to school. The teachers are loving and greet and hug her when she arrives. Each morning she has something waiting for her to do and she is excited to be there. The aromas of the home cooked meals fill the air - it always smells so good, not like most daycares at all.\r They have a huge playground in a well shaded lot - if you have seen other daycares you know many of them have only a small concrete pad with a few plastic playthings for the kids to play with very little shelter from the sun. We had to wait several months to get in but it was well worth the wait. Wouldn't change a thing! more

My Princess was impressed! 8/13/2007

My son attended Dale Sikes many years ago (he's currently in college). I did not particularly care for the director (the wife)... very cool. I did very much like the husband, and the daughter who is now the director.\r \r The daughter (director) greeted my child with LOTS & LOTS of enthusiasm. This was very engaging to a 6 year old.\r \r I DISAGREE with they opinion that they do NOT like blacks. They were WONDERFUL to my PRINCESS. My PRINCESS is African-American. \r \r We came to visit at the end of the day... I asked for a better time to return, so my kid could check out the facility and see the kids who attended the center. As a parent, I also needed to see a full picture of who was attending the center.\r \r When we returned, they showed my little girl around... and tried to impress her with the site. They were VERY happy, that my VERY CRITICAL PRINCESS finally smiled. During the tour they spoke, and she seemed to hang on their every word.\r \r \r As we entered one of the classrooms three young males (one was African-American) came up and just stared at her . I said, ""hello, are you going to introduce yourselves?"" The alpha-male stuck out his hand and introduced himself, his friends followed his example. Afterwards a few girls came over and the teacher introduced them. \r \r I was fairly impressed with what I saw. The facility was clean and kid friendly. The food smells were yummy! In fact the cook came out and spoke with us.\r \r To the NEGATIVE reviewer... what time of day did you come? My first visit was at a BUSY time of the day. I knew this going in, and took the chance. My second visit was at a time that allowed us to see what took place earlier in the day. \r \r My husband, and I am VERY particular about where our kids go and how they are treated . \r \r Is it possible that you came at a bad time? Is it possible you brought some NEGATIVE energy with you? Even if you don't choose to use the center, go back for a second visit. \r Pros: Very nice facility Cons: No rolling backpacks allowed on their school bus. more

A Great American Day School 7/27/2007

We looked at several day schools for our daughter to attend and found that Dale Sikes Day School offered the best and most caring school around. We found that Sikes offered great American down home style schooling that I and my wife grew up with. They honor our country and do not discourage religious beliefs like our government sponsored schools do. I just read a review that I strongly disagree with. I dropped my daughter off this morning and place here in her class that was at least half populated with African American children. I have found that Sikes Day School has a great mix of children that represent a wide variety of ethnic groups. My daughter has moved up to another class and her new teacher is an African American that has been teaching children for over 20 years, the teacher she was transferred from is an African American. I apologize if the last part of this message sounds like I am a little upset. I just read a review that I strongly disagreed with. I encourage anyone to visit the school; you will find that everyone is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Pros: Two Thumbs UP more

DON'T THINK THEY CARE FOR BLACKS 7/20/2007

I am not usually ""this"" critical and I hope that I am wrong about the Dale Sike's Day School. However, it was one of the first daycares that I visited in the area. When I went in, it was clean and seemed to ""have it going on"", however, it didn't seem as if the director or lady at the front desk wanted to talk to me. The staff seemed very cold and treated me very formally. I didn't really understand what was going on until I spoke with a friend later. My friend informed me that they did not particularly care to service the African Americans in the community. That is when I remembered that I did not see any African American students and / or teachers in the facility at all.\r \r Needless to say, I was VERY offended. Pros: Nice Facility Cons: Not Very Friendly To Blacks more

Offering moms and dads peace of mind in providing friendly, safe, clean daycare...They do care! 7/13/2007

My now 9-year-old daughter has been attending Dale Sikes Summer session for three years. Every day features planned activities, such as roller skating, crafts, cooking, and field trips. My daughter looks forward to attending as she does not want to miss out on any activities. The staff is professional, kind, caring, consistent and greets children by name. Here's a few examples of the care they provide: grace is said before lunch (how refreshing!). Also, I learned that my daughter, a picky eater, had not been eating her lunch. So, a caring staff member said that my daughter could not have snacks until she improved in her dietary habits. Now, that's a person with whom I want to leave my child for the day! This is the best daycare in Georgia. Pros: Caring staff, clean facilties, lunch, supervision and activities Cons: None. more

Best experience I had as a child! 6/18/2007

Being a former student at Dale Sikes Day School I feel I can say only the best about the place. Every teacher I ever met or had treated me like family. As a young girl I always knew who I could run to when all the older kids picked on me. Of course Ms. Glenda was still there and was the one who would pull my loose teeth out and put them in a little treasure chest for me to keep, and Mr. Sikes had the best taste in food. If he didn't like the food we didn't get that food. All the meals were chosen by Mr. Sikes and personally my favorite was the chicken and rice. However, I think the summer was my favorite time. Everyday was something new, from tuesdays and thursday at the skating rink to wednesdays as craft days, I was always impressed. The whole Sikes family became a second family and the school a second home. I wouldn't change a bit of that. I may only be 18 now but pne day I hope I'll be able to enroll my kids into that same place. I highly recommend taking advantage of an experience that no kid could get anywhere else. If possible try talking to anyone in the front office and they'll prove to you the kind of hospitality they show not only the kids but the parents as well. I guess another thing I've carried with me for the last 16 years is my best friend. we met at the mere age of 2 and ever since we've been inseperable. I have no doubt that any other child could find a friend like mine in a place like Dale Sikes. I hope my personal experience can show you the other side of the spectrum, the childs point of view. And I hope you will take it all to heart when trying to find a good place for your child to grow.\r -A former child of Dale Sikes\r -Samme Pros: teachers, owners, cooking, playground, child interaction Cons: none, except the day I left more

You will NEVER find another day care like it!!! 2/19/2007

I have always been an extremely overprotective mother. I had been looking for a day care facility were I could feel truly comfortable leaving my son, who was only 9 months at the time, all day while I was at work. The search was tiresome to say the least. I always managed to find something that I was unhappy with in all the schools that I visited. One day a co-worker recommended this school to me so I anxiously checked it out. I FELL IN LOVE. The staff is like family, the conditions are excellent, there is a set curriculum (can you believe that), the facility is super clean, I could go on forever! My child is only 3 and last year he new his numbers to 20, his ABC's, a vast variety of animals, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the list goes on. There are teachers at Dale Sikes who have been there for over 25 years. I can not say enough. I would just like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to Mrs. Sikes, Ms. Glenda, Ms. Jonnie, and all of the other staff there for giving me such a great gift, comfort in knowing that my son is in great hands. I now work in midtown and even though I have to commute up to Gwinnett county and then back in the opposite direction everyday to make sure that Sean gets to school on a daily basis I would travel further for what he is given there. Pros: The list is to long to name more

A place that I can truely trust with my son !! 8/30/2006

I spent months looking for a ""day care"" for my two year old. One day I was at the salon and my hairdresser just happened to tell me that dale sikes was where her daughter was enrolled. So I decided to do a drop in. Needless to say i fell in love with it. It was the cleanest by far. And had the most amazing staff ever. My son at 2 1/2 had never been away from me and everything has turned out great. I HIGHLY recommend Dale Sikes Day School, to anyone especially those mothers like me who are very hesitant about leaving your child with anyone. Pros: The teachers, the home cooked meals (breakfast and lunch), and the cleanliness Cons: none so far!! more
