I have lived in the community of Zebulon, NC, for nearly eight years and when I first stepped into the local Ace Hardware Store eight years ago I had ugly service from the sales personnel and unfriendly service from the checkout counter.. I decided then, never to shop there again.. I will drive twenty miles out of my way to avoid this store... I tell everyone I know about my bad experience and to avoid this store.
Yesterday I had little time to waste and didn't want to drive all the way to Lowe's in Knightdale a ten mile trip or spend the time walking thru our large Walmart.. I needed to get in and out so I decided to give Debnam's ACE Hardware another shot for my business..
The salesman was very nice and helpful.. Anxious to help me. We walked thru-out the store and picked up various items needed to complete various chores at home. Ended up with a $53.00 purchase which I knew carried a premium but I was willing to pay for good, helpful, speedy service.
At the checkout counter the young lady was not very polite but did her job efficiently. She became annoyed when I had to scrutinize some items on the total receipt and questioned a credit that amounted to an item I put back on the shelf for a smaller item. I could tell she was annoyed so I asked her if everything was fine. She threw her pen on the counter with a smirky undertone replied, yes.
I advised her at that point how I always avoid shopping at this store because of the way I am treated. Thought today would be a different experience but I was wrong. I asked her to reverse all of the items I purchased, I am going elsewhere.
She called over a gentleman with Jim on his coat. He immediately called me an ASS and made reference to me being a damn Yankee and that he didn't need my business. He has plenty of local customers. I asked him if he was the owner and he proclaimed, YES! At that point I again said that I wanted a refund on all of my items becaus
