I've been trying to decide if I should write a review or not, but after about a month or so, I still feel VERY taken advantage of, and with no return calls from Dan Mims...here goes!
I was on my way home with my two young children and my 2001 BMW 530i overheated on the freeway. I was able to quickly (within an hour or so) get it towed. The closest shop was D & D Automotive & Tires so I had it towed there, dropped off at Avis across the street and home safely within three hours. So far, so good.
Unfortunately, that's where my nightmare began. After a day being repaired and $1800.00 (cash discount) he apparently had it fixed. Took one of my children to school the next day and barely made it home, as it overheated again. They had to come and tow it from my house. It was supposedly a small thing that was forgotten, but he said I needed brakes and it should be ready to go another 100,000 miles. It only had 107,000 on it at the time. So, I agreed to getting the brakes done ($400 cash discount). Well, we got it back, didn't drive it all weekend, but on Monday morning off to school and ended up once again stranded on highway 580. I'll leave all the anger and frustration out of this review, but I'm sure you can imagine my feelings. Thankfully, my fiancé was working from home and able to come and pick us up and then again towed my car later that afternoon. Here's where the fun really begins. Now, apparently I have a blown head gasket, but I could get it fixed for $2,000 (cash discount). A good deal for a BMW, right? We did check around and that was on the low end and the price went as high as $2,800, but who's to say it wouldn't have been my engine next. At any rate, I decided enough was enough and sold the car on Craigslist. Dan actually even made a low ball offer on it. So, after this expensive week, the only positive thing I can say about Dan Mims/D & D Automotive & Tires is that they did allow my car to sit at their shop until I found a buyer. It was there a couple weeks and I sold it for $5,000 to a mechanic that worked at BMW in San Jose. He of course, had to have it towed...again.
This is my story and just the facts! Personally, I feel that if it had been fixed properly the first time around, it would have not blow the head gasket, saving me a lot of money. I feel one star is too many and I can not recommend Dan Mims or D & D Automotive & Tires.
FYI: You can also find some unfavorable reviews under D & D Automotive & Tires (yelp) and D & D Automotive & Tires Incorporated (local.yahoo). My question, why not be consistent with the name of your business? Also, check the 6 filtered reviews on yelp at the very bottom of the page. Good luck!
