D'Amore's Pizza

Went toD'Amore's Tuesday this week with a discount coupon from Restaurant dotcom. Told that they were no longer honoring these coupons (even though they are supposed to be good for 12 months). They should have honored their commitment with Restaurantdotcom. We were semi-regular diners at this restaurant (usually about once a month), but there are many good places to eat in Camarillo-we wont be going back more

The service and atmosphere was inviting, but the food itself left alot to be desired. When craving pizza, one loves the juicy tomato sauce, the toppings - even the cheese! The pizza looked pretty - but when taking the first bite, it was though it was missing what makes you love pizza in the first place - it was missing the tangy pizza sauce!!! the pizza was bland, and unfortunate that a 6 piece medium pizza was around $20.00!!! We had also ordered a caesar salad (without chicken) which was $9.00 and it was below standard as well. So, for a medium pizza, a caesar salad and 2 waters cost about $34.50 (not including tip) I guess what I'm saying is, I don't mind spending money on a pizza, but I would hope I would get what I'm paying for, and in this case, not so much. If you are in the mood for a delicious pizza - skip this place - not worth the money to just pay for atmosphere. more

I've been suffering from good pizza withdraw ever since I moved from NYC. Been looking for a good pizza place in Ventura county for a while and while D'Amore's doesn't remind me of NY pizza, I find the combination to be pretty good, but pricey. I normally prefer sausage and bell peppers, but the sausage at D'Amore's isn't very flavorful, so I go for the combo. D'Amore's advertise that their pizza has much less salt than other pizza places, and I do notice it based on how thirsty I get after a meal, but when you eat something that normally has a ton of sodium and you cut it in half, it's still not that good for you. The pizza has a thin crust if that matters to you. By the way, chicken wings are very pricey, but they're large-sized and surprisingly good. I get those occasionally as a treat. For pizza, I've always gotten take-out. Each time I call in my order, the time estimate I get is about 15-20 minutes too short. I've learned my lesson and go 15 minutes late, but still have to wait. Once, I waited an additional 10 minutes, which means that if I had gone on time, my wait would've been close to 1/2 hr after the time they quoted. I've eaten in once for dinner on a Wednesday. There were only 2-3 other groups of customers at the time, but the service was also slow and inattentive. I ordered the rib-eye steak special, but forgot it was an italian place and it came covered with some mushroom sauce. The sauce was too overwhelming and not something I normally like, but that was my mistake for not thinking before ordering. My recommendation is take-out on the pizza and chicken wings, but show up late to pick it up. more

It had been a while since dining at D'Amore's, the seating had changed and the lighting was way to bright! We had always had good service, but I think we had the same waitress as ""color blind and Spaghetti, Meatballs and Hair"" (blond hair, didn't see the color of her eyes) but she totally ignored us. When asked for bread, she said they only give you one piece with the salad. Paying $8.00 for lettuce, tomato and pizza cheese, the bread was cold, when I asked for a warm piece of bread it was as if they put it in the microwave because it was only warm on the outside and hard. We had the top sirloin special and it wasn't anything special. Our check was over 80.00 for a very disappointing dinner. Cons: Overpriced and bad service more

My wife and I needed a place in camarillo that had delicious pizza being that we are from the east coast let me just say D'amores is it!!! The pizza is to die for as well as their pastas and other entrees. We were greeted right away by a friendly hostess and were served promptly. all the servers are cute girls that take good care of their customers. my wife and I stayed for an hour just talking to them because they were so friendly! Last Thursday, a friend of mine were running errands. He saw D'Amore's Pizza and decided to stop. \r \r He ordered pizza and salad. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. One fourth of the meal had been digested before I found not one, not two, but THREE short hairs in my meal. When I told the blonde waitress with green eyes (Are you ready for this? Are you sitting down?), she said, ""What color were the hairs because we have three guys back there, but they all wear hair nets"". \r \r She charged us the full price of the meal. Never apologized for the mishap, and asked if I wanted the take home box that I requested earlier. \r \r I also agree with ""Color Blind"". My friend and I (white) were there about the same time/different day as ""Color Blind"" was and also with just one other table. Although we just sat ourselves I had to ask three times for my water, had to ask for refills on the water and ice tea. The waitress was oblivious to our needs, as she was tending to the other tables needs and her needs (hanging out with another employee behind the register). A New Yorker living in California often feel like he's been banished to pizza Hell. After 7 years of suffering with CA style pizza we finally found D'Amore's. It's a piece of home in every bite. We now get the jumbo cheese pie weekly! more

My son and I attempted to eat at this establishment yesterday (2/24/09). The time was around 4-4:30p. There was one table of customers; no one other than us waiting and one waitress that we could see. This waitress was at the table talking to the customers. Although we stood in the entryway for 5 minutes, the waitress never acknowledged our presence, although the two customers she was talking to did. We finally left and needless to say won't ever return. I am black and when things like this happen to me, I always wonder what would have happened had we been white people. more
