The first time I looked at the menu board I thought it was a relic from 10 years ago, then I realized that the prices were actually that cheap.
The special on the day we stopped by the local cafe was fried chicken. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cole slaw and a dinner roll.
The chicken (two pieces) was great. Excellent breading and not too greasy. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and the gravy was a chicken gravy with dill seasoning. Not bad. The corn was fine and the dinner roll was fresh and tasty.
A companion's cheeseburger looked fantastic.
What I love about this place are the friendly people who run the restaurant, the small-town atmosphere and the value. The food happens to be excellent too. If you go on a Wednesday you are in for a treat, it's pork roast and dumplings.
Cy's also happens to be one of the few restaurants where, like today, the U.S. Poet Laureate was eating two tables away from us.
