Great shop for cycle repair !! 2/18/2012

My 72 FLH is my whole world.I've owned 14 Harley's in 39 years. These guys know what their doing. They treat you with respect. No attitudes or sarcasim. If they can't fix your bike or don't want to tackle the job, they tell you up front right away.I like that.On the other hand, I also like their attitude of ,well you can do this or lets try this. What I mean by this is. if something that really matters to you, that you think can't be done, they really make an effort to make it happen. They try hard. That matters. Reasonable price too.I'm a return customer for sure!! Cycle Tech Rules!! Joe&Pete Top Shelf!! *****Tattoo..... Pros: null Cons: null more

Not Pleased 10/17/2011

I brought my Suzuki Maurauder in this summer because my battery kept dying (battery was only about a year old). While it was in the shop I also had a new tire put on, and had the break fluid changed. Cycle Tech supposedly diagnosed the problem and said that I needed a voltage regulator (approx. $190 + labor). After all the work was done I drove it home and then took the bike to work a few days later. When I stopped to get gas, the bike wouldn't start. The battery was dead again! I was not too far from the shop so it was nice when Joe brought out a battery for me to borrow to at least get to work. I brought the bike back to Cycle Tech again and after approx. 3 more weeks in the shop to diagnose the true problem...yes, 3 weeks...they finally figured out that all I needed was a new battery. Overall, my bike was in their possession for approx. 1 month! I spent several hundred dollars on parts/repairs. I probably didn't need the voltage regulator. The difficult thing to understan more

honest place to bring your bike 7/9/2011

today I took my bike in, I told Joe that mi bike was leaking gas into one of the pistons and had leaked into the engine, I know because one of the exhaust was leaking gas, and when I check the motor oil it smelled a lot like gasoline, so I changed the motor oil and took the bike to Joe, I was ready to spent some money for the repair....well Joe took it for a ride around the block, when he came back he told me, "well, there is nothing wrong with your bike, how long did you ride it this season?" I was shocked, so a mumble, " like twenty miles, that is when I noticed the gas leak", he said well you need to ride it more, and explained to me that maybe some of the pins got stuck and the carburetor got flooded, but it was ok now, he told me what to use every time I put gas in the bike, it was amazing to me how he took the time for all this, and no charge, now that is an honest guy, I definitely will take my bike to him when it needs service, tanx a lot Joe. more

My side of the story. 11/24/2010

Thank you for checking us out. My name is Joe LaPorte. I am the owner of Cycle Tech Inc. I am very proud of all of our good reviews. I do see the bad ones too. The guy with the Triumph I remember. I was supprised by his review. What he spent was more than fair for all that was done and I did price the jobs out beforehand. The other guy with the .00mm valve clearance. I have no idea who that is. It is odd that we never received a phone call from this person. Last but not least. Alton Smith or Scarface. One of his complaints was correct. He is still our customer and I am glad for that. I started this business over 20 years ago. I am not perfect but I do try my best. I cheat no one and I stand behind my work. Thank you for reading this. Joe LaPorte. more

Paid for a job that wasnt done 11/2/2010

Took my bike in to get serviced. I was charged a ton of money to get my valves and carb adjusted. Take my bike home no questions asked. Get to the track that following weekend bike dont start. We looked like idiots at the track dragging my bike behind my buddys truck to start it. Took my bike to mx factory, another local bike shop I found on craigslist and the intake valves were at zero clearence. Cycle tech didnt even do what they said they did. Joe (owner) stated "we checked them and they were within spec" Huh? I didnt know 0.00mm was within spec. Idiots! Ghetto ticket said valves adjusted. I'm no mechanic but there is a big difference from checking valves and adjusting valves. Take your bike to mx factory prices are great, customer service is awesome and was a 4 hour turnaround time. more

I've found my shop 10/8/2010

Completely agree with Jim H.\r \r Took my bike in to have the valves adjusted and carbs adjusted. Joe (the owner) waited for me as I got there right at closing on a Wed. night. He then went through what needed to be done - most of which I had already done, and then said they'd take care of the rest. I picked my bike up Thurs. night and she runs like a top. Outstanding service and fair pricing, couldn't ask for a better shop. They made a few recommendations for work that should be done but isn't urgent and I'll be bringing it back to Cycle Tech for all my future services.\r \r One other note, when I first went in, Joe took the time to get to know me and my bike a little. He also explained the negative reviews on here and that one of the guys was still their customer and the other guy who complained about the pricing never said a word to them in the shop, just paid his bill and said thanks - only to come on here and complain. From the pricing Joe broke down to me, the guy didn't get ripped o more

Motorcycle Rider 6/7/2010

I left my 2006 Triumph Thruxton with Cycle Tech Saturday afternoon near closing time. I need new tires, rear brake pads and a 12,000 mile tune. I got to meet the owner who looked over my bike and wrote up the service ticket. I was told on the phone that I would have my bike back in less than 1 week which is very important because I use the bike to commute to Chicago every day. Normally I would leave my bike at the Triumph dealer because they provide excellent service but they are way backed up and could not get to my bike. Cycle Tech is ordering my new Metzeler tires from a parts supplier. \r $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$\r Got my bike back right on time. The cost was really excessive for the amount of work performed. The owner writes the bill up old school style, by hand, no computer print out. There wasn't a whole lot of detail really about what work was performed. For my little Triumph I got twonew Metzler tires, rear brake pads, and a 12,000 mile check wit more

The best place I've found, hands down. 12/21/2009

This is the bet place I've found for my bikes-period. Very good results, very reasonable pricing. Most of all, honest guys making an honest living. They care about what is going on, and won't even let my bike out of the shop without making sure it's cleaner than when it came in. I have used them for 3 of my bikes (Valkyrie, Vulcan 1500, and ST 1300A, and referred 2 friends so far, and both of them had similar experiences. I will not go anywhere else now. more

Cycle Tech Inc is old school cool! 8/6/2009

I bought stuff on advice and I clearly do not know or else I would not have spent $ I do not have. I go back for Jeff. Joe is a good guy (better than most I have dealt with) but Jeff is the one that fixed most of my stuff ; fabed fender, put on springer, wired apes, and whatever else I have done in three years. It is my fault for not knowing and relying on advice but the bottom line is my bike is the way I want it thanks to them. Just added my bills and have given them ove $3,200 in these past 4 years. I even bought a Camaro because of Jeff's green 68' (mine in 2010 though). My bike is just as I want thanks to them (over 16,000 spent overall at 4 shops). more

the right place to bring your bike 6/30/2009

best place to take your bike. i know the guy who owns it personaly. hes my dad. hes fair with prices and only lets people leave satisfied. dont listen to the guy abt the speedo and pipes the wrong color. my dad told me abt it the guy screwed up told my dad the wrong thing and he didnt understand. more

fixed bum automatic cam tensioner in 1999 gsx-r600 6/21/2009

All around great service. Diagnosed the problem (Joe guessed what it was within a minute of explaining the symptoms - loud clattering at rpm below 2200) and explained it thoroughly. Replaced the tensioner in just a few hours once the parts arrived (after about 4 days). more

1982 Honda 900F 5/12/2009

What do you do when Honda no longer has the parts you need? I thought my riding days were over. Joe (Cycle Tech owner)searched far and wide to find the parts I needed and my bike is now running fine. I've been using Cycle Tech for almost 10 years and the thing I like most about Joe is he'll give you and honest assessment of what your bike really needs and his folks always go over and beyond to ensure you are satisfied. more

Re. Scarface 4/4/2009

Alton brought in his own speedometer, asked to have it installed. When it turned out to be a speedometer sensor, he got upset he already spent money on a gauge at a different dealership. He got two sets of bars because he was not specific the first time. If he is so dissatisfied with our service, why does he keep coming back?? more

A great place to get you cycle fixed 10/22/2008

I had my tire replaced, and he went the through the trouble of showing me everything, and the price was even less than the dealer, I would recommend him to all. Very respectful person to deal with. more

Scarface 60652 5/26/2008

First I bought a speedo I didn't need. Then I had my pipes wrapped in the wrong color. I paid for bars and risers twice. My battery cover was bent and my top tree was crooked. My springer risers were lost. I probably spent over a $1000 that I didn't need to. Everytime you call he tells you he is with a customer but then what are you? more

Excellent cusotmer service and good work 3/31/2008

I've used Cycle Tech for the last 3 years, and I have never been disappointed. I used to go to the Honda dealership where my bike sat for 2-3 weeks to get looked at, and the problem rarely went away. Joe (the owner) runs a tight business. He explains problems well, and deals with them quickly. When I bought another bike, I took it to him to look it over. He went over it personally and showed me what needed to be fixed immediately, what could wait and for how long, and the general condition of the bike. It saved me a lot of trouble and he offers that service for free. The last two times I took my bike in, he had it taken care of within a couple of hours. \r \r Overall, this is a great bike shop. They are quick, cheap and professional. Unless I move out of the state, I'm giving them all of my business, and so should you. more

Best alternative to a dealer! 11/30/2007

Cycle Tech is great. I started using Joe's shop for my '04 Harley FLHRS 1.5 yrs ago when I learned how much better his prices are for service compared to H-D dealerships. His turnaround time is good, and his winter storage is less than half what H-D charges! Save yourself money and time and try Cycle Tech. more

Cycle Tech 4/28/2007

These guys are fantastic. The Owner/Mechanic (Joe) is always present every business day to see to your needs. Very patient and explains everything. They do honest, and reputable work!! They were able to fix a problem I had with my bike that dealers were unable to troubleshoot. Prices are very competitive, and turn around time for repairs are outstanding. I will always go to these guys for any of my motorcycling needs!! Give them a try, I guarantee you will not regret it.\r \r Jim more
