The quality of the cake we ordered from Custom Cake Shoppe was absolutely horrible. We ordered an extremely simple cake design- a three-tiered cake made of buttercream with red, silver and white fondant ""balls"" embedded in the cake and protruding from wires randomly. Our wedding was on Sunday, so they had the cake ready for us to pick up on Saturday at 2pm, since they are not open on Sundays. When we picked up the cake, there were multiple construction issues. The balls were irregularly shaped and some were actually flattened on one side. They were also poorly sprayed and therefore unevenly colored. It looked like a 6-year old had decorated our wedding cake. Actually, I have seen toddlers make more spherical balls out of Play-Doh- it was unacceptable and completely disappointing... Worst of all, though- the top tier had formed a fissure and was literally LEANING to one side. We had to carefully BRACE the top tier of the cake as we transported it, lest it topple to the floor of the vehicle. When I called to ask them what to do about the cake five minutes after we left, they had already closed. What a horrifying experience! We chose this place because their price was lower ($228) than their competition (avg-$350). Also, the cake was dry and grainy- nothing like the samples we tried. It looked and tasted like a rush job. We now regret our decision. It was a miracle that our hideous cake did not topple over, at least.
Pros: Slightly Lower Price
Cons: Awful Construction and Bad Taste, Inconvenient Hours
