Curves

Well I'm a little heartened by the fact that I join the many women who are enraged by the treatment of CURVES. I felt like I was the ""BIGGEST LOSER"" !!! I joined because, although I have a very physical job, I needed to strengthen different parts of my body. I only visited 4 times and realized that the workout was very bad for my back. I learned that I have degenrate disc desease in my lower back and could not possibly continue. I told them this and gave them a note and figured at the end of the year that would be that!!! I did not read the fine print on the contract and because I put the whole idea of CURVES behind me I didn't see the money coming out (they made sure to take it out on different days of the month so it would be less recognizable, extremely slimy.) I did NOT receive ONE phone call telling me that they were continuing to reap the money out of my account every month for TWO YEARS!!! NOT one phone call. Human decency does not prevail with these theives. Although it feels better to share my story, I still feel bad for the others that are going to fall into the same trap! Most of us being middle aged and older, CURVES should be very ashamed. Is this going to go anywhere?? Is there something that can be done about this? Please tell me something is going to be done!! I feel very manipulated and seriously taken advantage of by Curves on Postal Way in Carolina Forest. more

I am writing this letter as a formal complaint, and a demand that Curves of Carolina Forest repay my banking account for monies erroneously removed from my banking account, after notifying that establishment that I was ending my membership there. That notification was made in October of 2008, at which time Curves agreed to stop the automatic debits from my checking account. Well, that never happened. They continued to debit my account, and I was forced to send a certified letter to their establishment, requesting a refund. Four payments were deducted without my approval, and the owner of the business never responded to messages or correspondence. In addition, I have driven to their site several times, and spoke with representatives who apologized to me for not being treated fairly and professionally. The debits stopped for a few months, and then out of nowhere, another debit to my checking account was made by Curves of Carolina Forest in May 2009. First of all, I have to say that this spa is not a good value for your money. The gym around the corner is about the same price and offers many more pieces of equipment, better hours, actual fitness programs and reps who are certified athletic trainers -- not glorified salespeople. Not only did I not find the workout helpful for losing weight, the staff went back after 2 years and started charging my account again. Seems pretty slimy to me. Pros: Zero Cons: Kiss your checking account goodbye! more

They won't stop charging me the monthly fee, and won't let me cancel until I speak to the owner, but the owner is NEVER around. I've been trying to reach her for weeks and weeks! I have placed DOZENS of calls to the office in search of the owner, only to be told, ""she's not here and I don't know when she WILL be here."" When I asked the rep there to help, she became very rude and started blaming ME for not being able to contact the owner. She said, ""It's your responsibility to track her down"". I have a job, a family, a life outside of trying to track down a woman who obviously doesn't want to be found. In the meantime, the money keeps flowing out of my account and into the owner's pocket. Do NOT -- under any circumstances -- trust these people with your credit card/checking account information. I have been fighting with these people for MONTHS for charges to my account which I did not authorize! They are unscrupulous crooks and shysters!
