ALMOST TOO GOOD! 11/2/2011

After a friend and I went to an event in Hollywood, we decided to look for a new place to eat in the West Hollywood/ Fairfax area to have dinner--somewhere that would be ""different"" from the usual fare and not terribly expensive and quick. We found Currywurst and it was AMAZING!!!! It was a new type of food for me....German. GREAT COMFORT FOOD!!! And the best garlic fries I ever had...maybe the best fries in general. And didnt break the bank! GREAT VALUE And everyone there was so nice and helped us decide what to order since I didnt know that kind of food at all. more

Love it! 10/11/2011

Currywurst should be renamed CurryBEST! There's not a wrong item on the menu, the price is phenomenal, and the owner / staff / environment are spot-on. more

Want more currywurst!! 10/5/2011

I just discovered currywurst at this new place on Fairfax and I'm hooked! I've tried the traditional currywurst and the chicken one. Yummmm! I'm getting the Hungarian one next because I heard it is great. The garlic fries with the garlic aioli are the perfect accompaniment. I like the setting, contemporary--not ""hofbrau-y"" and easy. Only problem was that last time I got the craving it was on Monday and they were closed. Oh well--there is always Tuesday. more

Just what we were looking for! 10/4/2011

We have been hearing about these ""sausages"" forever as we have these great German friends, so we have been doing our homework...This was exactly what the doctor ordered - it was an immaculate place, easy to park, with the friendliest and most helpful staff. We asked a billion questions, and their patience was never ending! But as good as the staff - the wurst was even better! i had the spicy curry sauce where as my husband wimped out and had the regular. They were both amazing. We went after the movies - and there is never a place you want to eat -easy , quick w/ amazing fries. more

The Best Wurst ever...... 10/4/2011

We've been waiting for the Currywurst LA to open so on opening day we stopped by. We couldn't decide between the 3 different wursts served so we got all 3. After totally enjoying each we actually couldn't decide which was the best wurst. They were all great. The ""ketchup sauce"" is amazing. When i asked the chef/proprietor Kai, what was in it he said ""ketchup"". Somehow I suspect that is only one small ingredient in this delicious sauce. We have been back several times for take out and to eat in and we still are undecided on which is the Best Wurst, they are all yummy. more

Amazing 10/4/2011

Had two fantastic meals at Currywurst over the week-end! It's new, sleek, super clean and absolutely delicious. Couldn't decide between the traditional currywurst or the sausages on a bun, so I had to go back the next day to be sure I tried both. Yummy! Don't miss the fries... I chose to have mine with garlic, and loved them. I also had the homemade mustard on my chicken sausage, with a mix of grilled onions and sauerkraut. It's right next to The Grove and CBS on Fairfax... Loved it! more

Delicious!! 10/4/2011

Having heard great things about Currywurst, my husband and I took our 18 month old there on our way to the Grove. We asked what we should get for the 3 of us, little one included, and we ended up ordering the pork/veal Currywurst and the Hungarian sausage. Oh, and course the fries! All I can say is that the 3 of us ate everything and LOVED it all!! Don't pass up the mayonnaise sauce for the fries, by the way. It's out this world! Everything was so clean and the owner and staff were very kind and helpful. We can't wait to go back! more

The food is absolutely delicious 9/30/2011

I had never eaten currywurst before but I was intrigued by the concept. When I went into the restaurant, I had no idea what to order. The employees helped me out and recommended that I go with the chicken currywurst, with grilled onions, fries and chipotle mayo. It was TO DIE FOR! I plan on coming back in again today because I can't wait to get some more currywurst. TIP: Ask for help if you can't decide on what you want to order!!! more

Authentic German Currywurst - German Sausage located in LA near the Farmer's Market/Grove. German street food perfect for takeout orders!

Owner Message
  • Currywurst is located just kiddie corner to the Farmer's Market/Grove. Owner Kai Loebach is a German native and accomplished chef and caterer who wanted to bring a little authenticity to this popular German fast-food craze. Currywurst, the namesake of the take-out place, consists of a Fresh sliced Bockwurst with Curry Powder and homemade organic Ketchup sauce. Currywurst is typically served with French Fries and mayonnaise, although you may choose from a variety of scrumptious homemade mustards and sauces. In addition, Currywurst also offers an array of sausages, including German sausage, chicken Thueringer and a spicier Hungarian on a warm bun with either sauteed onions or fresh cooked sauerkraut. Anyone who is over the sandwich thing or is trying to lay off the carbs would especially love this great meaty alternative!
