Best Asian Fusion Foods - Best Value for Foodies! 11/28/2009

the pros - I really like this place, The have the best Japanese Curry Made Fresh Daily. It's all about the classic Chicken Cutlet Curry. Everyone like Carne Asada - Everyone likes Japanese Ramen - well they put them together = Carne Asada Ramen (The Best). they are serving the asian taco thing, and they come out really good! i had the bulgogi and thai chicken satay tacos and the kalua pork tacos, all are really good. they put with the tacos the mango salsa and the tradition fresh taco toppings, all really works for me. i think i'll come back to try their bulgogi hot dog, that idea looked really interesting, i saw someone order that and it looked very appealing. I the cons - parking isn't the best, street is usually taken up but there is parking in the back, it gets a little loud in that little place. the air conditioning, is too cold . gets kinda crowded during peak hours, hard to find a seat. service is only ok when its slow, they should hire like 5 more people or something instead of them running around Pros: Best J-Curry / Ramen / Tacos?!?! Cons: Parking more

Curry tastes like the pan it was cooked/stored in! 4/13/2009

I called the manager to provide feedback, and before telling him about the (metallic) taste, I let him know I enjoyed the dish otherwise. After telling him about the taste of the pan or metal utensils (what I felt was constructive feedback) he dismissed me, adding that the use of multiple spices were a factor, and that it would taste the same if I ever returned. Pros: Chicken curry has great potential. Cons: But it tastes like it has remained in the pan too long! more

Best Asian Cheap Eats on Ventura Blvd! Japanese Curry, Ramen, and Chowder! 1/26/2009

Love to Eat Here! They have Lots to choose from! I've had most of their menu in the past month - Japanese Curry, Ramen, Spam Musubi, Garlic Rice was the bomb! They even started serving a really good corn chowder (where do you find that?!) Twinkie Tempura was a dope dessert! The DaKine Fried Rice was the best rice i ever had, i poured their homemade BBQ sauce on the rice, wow! Can't go wrong with this small yet great eats! good find! thanks to Mr. Yamaguchi for bringing me here! Pros: Great Food great value Cons: maybe too nice staff? Music and other customers a little too loud? more

Charming local spot 1/8/2009

I discovered this place while randomly driving by one day. ""Curry Up""...I got such a kick out of that name, I just had to check it out. I had such a wonderful experience. The menu was just as fun as the restaurant name. Come on...""Holy Shitake"" curry? I had to get that. It was a shitake mushroom and tofu curry. What a fabulous combination. I have since been back several times. Here are my favorites: Kahlua pork curry, shitake curry (upgrade to the Ultimate Homestyle, which adds spinach, corn, & potatoes...yum), and the vietnamese coffee. Prices are a tad bit steep for curry (just a tad), but it's worth it for the charm of the cafe. more

Curry Up Cafe is awesome! My favorites are the Curry Fries, Chicken Cutlet Curry and any of their ramen dishes. It's delicious, hearty and best of all, LOCAL! It's a staple for me, my family and many of our friends more

Curry Up Cafe? More like Hurry Up and get out of there Cafe 12/17/2008

I went to dinner with my two teenage daughters and ordered Miso Soup, Gyoza, Crab Rangoons, and BBQ Pork Fried Rice. The soup was room temperature, and the Crab Rangoons were not even room temperatures, so we had them sent back to be heated up. They had a really good flavor once they were hot. The Gyoza were hot and had a good flavor. The BBQ Pork Fried Rice was the most bland we've ever had (not even the hot chili sauce could help it), and it also was not even room temperature. We didn't bother sending it to be reheated because we didn't see our waiter again once he dropped it off. He was nice when we first got there, but after he took our order, he became the absent waiter, other than one time asking if we wanted a refill on our Thai Ice Tea. The restaurant itself was cold . . . we all kept our jackets on . . . maybe that's why the food was cold. Bottom line: we will never go back. Paying $40.00 to eat cold food in a cold room, and unattentive service, isn't my idea of eating out. Pros: Cleanliness, the Crab Rangoons Cons: Barely any parking, cold temperature in restaurant, food not hot, disappearing waiter. more
