Wonderful Place Cultus Lake Resort 5/25/2010

We stayed at Cultus Lake for their opening weekend this year. One of the owners Jenny checked us in. Since they were not fully booked she insisted on upgrading us from a small lake front cabin to a large lake front cabin at the same rate. The cabin was very charming, it had a large kichen and really neat log furniture. The cabin was litterly 15 feet from the lake's edge and their were guest docks right in front of our cabin for us to keep our boat on, absolutly perfect! We started a fire in the open fireplace right away. After unpacking I grabbed my book and cozyed up by the crackling fire to read for a bit. We decided to head up to the lodge for dinner (unaware that the restaurant does not open until Memorial Day weekend) Jenny informed us that they were not open but to please join her and her entire family for dinner. We had a wonderful spaghetti dinner and some red wine. The next day was beautiful so we decided to head out for a day of hiking. Jenny's husband Seth had set us up on a hike to Benim Falls the evening fall, so we were set to go. After a great afternoon of hiking we thought we better check out the lake a bit, so decided to rent a canoe for a bit. We didn't last long because of the wind and rough water, but could see how beautiful and clean the lake was. After dinner we roasted some marshmellows in our out door fire pit and hit the hay for our last night. This resort is the perfect hidden gem of the Cascades. We totally fell in love with the family that runs and owns the resort, the grounds, the cabins and the area. We plan on making this a annual vacation spot for our family. Upon checking out we booked a week in August to start our tradition. Oh and by the way, Jenny refused to take any money for our dinner and wine that we enjoyed with them!!! Pros: Beautiful grounds, cabins and awesome owners and staff! Cons: none that we found more
