I went here for thursday night Bachata/salsa night. I was kind of nervous coming to this place because i read all the bad reviews under this review but i noticed they are all old with most of them being over a year ago. well I asked my friend whos bachata band played here a few months ago what he thought about it and he said its a decent place, so..i decided to give it a shot and im glad i did. Ill say this...im new to salsa and bachata so im happy anywhere i can dance, im not very picky..I think the only bad thing was that it was sort of dead and there was alot more guys then girls(probably because the reviews). I didnt mind all the extra space on the dance floor though because im still learning haha. As far as the staff goes, i had no problems with anyone, security was cool with me, the bartender did not ignore me, I cant say anything about the food because i didnt try it, I will definitely go back. and If your wondering about coming, I would give it a shot because all these bad reviews are about the past promoter named George, well he is no longer there(from what i hear) so give it a shot? more

The owner is rude, I was actually made to pay for food even though I clearly saw a roach in one of the bathrooms closest to the kitchen. They were rude, the service was terrible and I could of looked past the roach thing had he been a little nicer about the situation, don't go if you don't like roaches hanging out in places you eat. more

it's important to pay back for unsolicited texting by george and this poorly reviewed dive. first use your social network to generate a boycott. tell your facebook contacts to stay away. and ask them to pass on the complaint about unsolicited texting. the texts will end up costing thousands of customers via social networking. also file los angeles county better business bureau complaints and FCC complaints for violating the no call list. more

714 396 9714 is ""George's"" number. I called it 7 times... he finally answered and I told him to take my number off his list. He said he would. Feel free to give him a call and tell him how you feel. more

It's too bad, because I love Caribbean and Cuban fare. It's unbelievable that any business would resort to illegal, unsolicited text messages to get people to come. What does that say about the food? Can it not speak for itself? This is an advertising tragedy. Under what structure of logic do they think violating peoples' privacy (and in some cases costing them money in a recession) is a GOOD idea? Is the food good? Are the drinks good? Can fun times be had? No idea, because the rudeness precedes walking through the door. more

My husband and I decided to try Cuban Pete's because we are fond of Cuban food. It was a decision I am sorry I made, and we wasted a lot of money for nothing. The food was disgusting, the waitress was super rude, and the atmosphere wasn't nice either. I had diarrhea for 3 days afterwards, I think I had e-coli poisoning. I have had better food at Taco Bell. There were a bunch of scummy ghetto people there as well. WOW, is all I have to say. I will never be back and will tell EVERYONE I know NOT to go to Cuban Pete's. more

I took my mother to celebrate her birthday and we had a terrible experience. My water cup and silverware were dirty. i usually do not notice but there was enough food that i noticed. the waitress was courteous got me a whole new set. the food took long considering there were not many customers. we actually tried the seafood enchiladas that was recommended by an earlier post. the food looked great but lacked in taste. i am sorry but it was a complete fail. i will not return, and would not recommend. more

i went there last week and just had one of those experiences that i had to tell everyone about. I spent a lot of money, so i expected a better experience. Food and drinks came out to $63 for two of us. The food was flavorless, the drinks were fine (although overpriced), and the service is what really got me angry. Dumb waitress kept looking around the room while taking our order that i had to repeat it. Then it took a long time (not too long at least) for the food to come out and the broad let the plate drop on the table as she put it in front of me. It was only an inch of a drop, but totally weird and rude. And my drink was empty for too long. I was on a date there and a bad restaurant experience dampens the mood. I got laid anyway, but much of our conversation was about how terrible the place was. Sucks when a guy has to aplogize to his date for taking her to a place like that. Lucky she was cool. more

This place has hired an advertising ""specialist"" named George de la Vega who uses automated dialing to send unwanted text messages to FCC blocked numbers. I contacted the restaurant and advised them of this and was assured that it would not happen again. Two days later I again received their unwanted text. I spoke with the same individual regarding this matter and was then referred to the manager. The manager admitted that the prior information was not relayed to George. Please be aware that using an automated dialer is a violation of the FCC regulations, along with ignoring a direct request to be removed. I will be filing an formal complaint with the FCC and Cuban Pete's will never see any business from me. more

To be fair, this review is not about their food. It's about their promotional efforts to get people in the door. I have been getting incredibly annoying text messages about some club at this place despite requesting to be taken off their damn list. I've filed a complaint to the FCC. The texts keep coming. Cuban Pete's will never see my business and I will happily continue to recommend Versailles, Felix's, and other local Cuban eateries because THOSE places don't spam me. more

The pace is great the night I went was disco night so was terrible a hole bunch of hoochi mama mas viejas que el cafe and half naked but ok thats fine what I really want to talk about is the food OMG who in the hell tell this people thats cuban food the food is horrible its was a party of 14 people not one dinner plate was eatable (masitas de puerco en vinagre??)terrible so sorry but you need a new cook and make sure he is cuban. more

I have had such a great meal everytime at Cuban Pete's. The Ropa Vieja and Seafood Enchilado was superb, and better than the other local Cuban restaurants I've been to !!!! The dance floor is huge, and the bands are always excellent. Definately recommend for dinner and then dancing. more

We have relocated to the beautiful city of lakewood, next to the lakewood mall. Great dinner menu! Great happy hour specials with 15 new plazma tv's!
