Best

I'm from the South and was in dire need for a kolache. Sadly, not many people in Seattle knew what a kolache even is. I work pretty close to the pike market, and just stopped ...

Worst

My last experience with the Crumpet Shop was an incredible disappointment. On Saturday, 7/12/08, my husband, son and myself drove into the market, with the express purpose of havi...

Perfection 10/30/2006

It was my first time to Seattle and I walked the 7 blocks every morning for a crumpet. The Vermont was my favorite, followed by the English Cheese, Ham & Tomato. The staff - PERFECT. The staff is very kind and friendly. The teas were premimum and the lattes were hot. You can even watch them make the crumpets behind the glass. The place is cozy, but the sitting areas are a little tight, but just great. Please don't miss this gem! Tell them the tea lady from Texas sent you in for a crumpet. more

Market Favorite 10/24/2006

This place epitomizes the market culture. Ecclectic teas, authentic crumpets with TONS of yummy spreads, and an airy but cozy vibe. more

My favorite Seattle Staple 10/1/2005

This place lives and breathes the true spirit of Seattle- nestled right in the market, you can peer at the tourists (or if you are one, the locals) buying flowers, giggling at the Deja Vu sign or just meandering by. The crumpets, tea, coffee and such are all amazing, but nothing compared to the love that goes into each. I've been going to the Crumpet Shop for over 15 years, and the owners are always present and gracious, the staff well trained and friendly, the food outstanding and the patrons friendly. Nothing is better than a crumpet with egg with english cheese, cream cheese and ham with a mocha or hot chocolate on a seattle morning at the market. Oh, except when you follow it with a ricotta/nuttella or perhaps a purely divine black rasberry jam on a buttered crumpet. Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Food, Authentic Seattle more

Favorite Lunch Spot 5/29/2005

The Crumpet Shop is by far my favorite spot for lunch in the market. Besides crumpets and coffee, they have amazing fresh baked bread and great soup. Plus the people working there are so nice! Pros: Great bread, Friendly Staff more

Tourist trap for unlucky Anglophiles 4/27/2003

Don't get me wrong, English muffins toasted and buttered are one of my favorite things. But I can make them twice quickly at home, and tastier too. On the bright side there was something rustic about that cramped, dingy little space with its awkward seating arrangements. But I won't go back there. Whenever I'm in the Market there's so many better places to go (e.g. Michou, Le Panier, Sisters, Turkish Delight, a few other places whose names I've forgotten) that one is better off just taking one's chances. more
