The Threads
Contemporary and trendy, the clothes at this thrift store are always in perfect condition and reasonably priced. Though most of the goods are bought from the public, Crossroads gets about 20 percent of its merchandise from wholesalers. So, unlike other thrift stores, Crossroads offers some products in a variety of sizes. If you're hunting down fashion staples like jeans and jackets, run to the nearest Crossroads, but if you want to dress your wild side, head elsewhere.
The Trade
The staff's pickiness is a virtue to the Crossroads shopper, but if you came here to sell your beat-up plaid pants from 1992, you'll be disappointed with the price you're offered. Crossroads only accepts clothes in perfect condition and the latest trends. If you can convince them to buy your old threads, you'll get 40 percent of the retail value in cash or 50 percent in store credit. (August 2000)
