I searched for a church for 14 years here in Georgia. I tried several. Every time I walk into a church here in Georgia, I immediately feel an almost physical suffocating oppression. When my son was 3 I also tried to start him in a church. I took him for 5 weeks. He cried every week. He never got better. The 5th he became hysterical in the car. I couldn't even take him in. Fast forward 1 1/2 years. I walked into Crossroads Church and my heart sang. I had to hold back the tears. I did not smell heavy perfume. My son was leary the first visit and now demands he be taken! My husband LIKES it. He is not a church person. He never went with me on all my searches. I asked him to go the second time I went and he has been going ever since. Because you don't know us you don't know the task it was for the Lord to get us there. If you are not going to church because you feel like you will never find one because of criticism, dull messages, fire and brimstone lectures, oppression of others, because you have to dress up, because you are always late, because you don't want everyone to call you 'brother' or 'sister', because you have tattoos, piercings, are gay, etc..........leave all your hesitation behind. Come just one Sunday for one hour with an open heart and mind. Get a donut, some coffee, listen to a live band and release some endorfins. That's all. Just one hour. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. You can be as involved or as separate as you choose to be. Make it your own journey. Your children will flip. The youth ministers and volunteers are in touch with their demographic. Greg (pastor) and his wife have a clue. Have 4 children. Dress like working class people. If you ask, you can have any guidance you ask for. Someone will take or make time for you. Don't hide at home this Sunday. Come just for the music the first time! Start slow. God is patient.
