Editorial review from Citysearch 3/14/2014

Bugs galore. I had SLUGS in my bedroom when it rained hard. Also, the pool was apparently filled in with concrete a year or two ago. That is GHETTO. Also, beware of the list of items to clean upon move-out. They apparently DO NOT hire cleaning crews to come in after you move out. What does that mean? YOU the resident, are the last person who cleans before the new tenants move in. I'm scared to leave a plate behind when I move out for fear that I will be charged. The units are old, dirty, and ...yeah old and dirty. Beware of your security deposit here. more

Love this place!! 4/4/2011

I have lived in both a garden apartment and a townhouse at Criston. The garden apartment was bright and the rooms are quite large. There are no others that compare .....many newer complexes have very small rooms and are not filled with bright natural light. The kitchen is a large eat-in kitchen also. I moved to a townhouse so I could dig in the dirt and plant flowers. It's so nice to be able to have some creativity in the garden. The bedrooms upstairs in the townhouse are HUGE!! The management has always been friendly and responsive. It is also really convenient to lots of shopping! It's a great place to live!! more

I love it here.. 9/28/2010

The apartments are spacious and provide a comfort level seemingly unsustainable in the modern approach that caters to a more compact design which is favorable to technology as opposed to a living space.. I've lived here for a few years now and have never had any problems with the staff that others have indicated in their reviews. In fact they have even given me a ride to store a couple of times since I can no longer drive. I'm in my thirties and since transportation is an issue I like having Barnes and Noble, Borders, Best Buy, etc.. all in walking distance. I'd recommend the apartments to anyone interested in them! more

Beautiful, spacious and well-maintained 9/24/2010

It is a pleasure living at Criston Apartments. These well built apartments are incredibly spacious and have the finer details like crown molding rarely seen today. The apartment was immaculate when I moved in and it felt like it was brand new. They obviously want to give their tenants a positive experience. I have lived here over a year and could not be happier. The maintenance staff does a great job both inside and with the grounds. I have only had to call them twice - both times because I broke something and they responded within 24 hours with genuine care and concern. Parking has never been a problem and I feel safe coming home alone at night. This is a great place to live if you want plenty of room, quality, a wonderful location and those extra special details lacking at other complexes. more

The Management Is Really Mean.... 10/9/2009

The looks can be deceiving but once you move in....watch out!! This really ought to be a retirement village. First, the maintenance is horrible. I really do not think they know how to fix anything. It all gets jerry rigged. Second, the elderly people who have lived here a very long time complain about EVERY little thing...even if a leaf gets dragged into the foyer. Thirdly, they really don't want anyone below the age of 50 living here. If you are a young person, couple, or have kids...trust me....you will have complaints about ANY little noise that is made. They think that if you under the age of 30 and have friends over that you are doing nothing but partying. The management will harass you to make you move if they don't want you here. This is just a horrible place with very vindictive people running it. Pros: Good Location Cons: Mean Management, Maintenance Is Terrible, Way Overpriced!! more

Criston not luxurious at all & very overpriced! 8/19/2009

I just moved in at the end of July 2009. I was promised that they would have the townhouse very nice for me upon my move in. Sad to say, it was not. First of all the kitchen cabinets are very old and needed to be replaced instead they put down contact paper (which I might add it was put down very tacky), the bathroom cabinets are so old that they have developed mold & a bad odor from water damage to the cabinets, and I have also experienced plumbing issues as well. Also, I can't get in and out of my front & back doors with ease; I have to open the door with two hands & push against the door with my body to get in & out. Maintenance is very very slack. I have placed several work orders about almost 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received notice as to when they are going to come out & repair things that should have been repaired before my move-in. By the way, I was told that they didn't have problems with pests and I have seen several since my move in. The solution to this disgusting problem was for maintenance to leave me a bottle of spray to resolve the issue myself. At this point, I'm just waiting for my lease to expire next year so that I can move. If I have to pay $1,000 a month, I definitely want my townhouse to be decent and I want better maintence service; but sad to say I'm not getting that here at Criston. Pros: Good Location Cons: Townhomes in desperate need of upgrades more

Looks are decieving 5/31/2009

Last year, banned bikes and removed the playground equipment. This year, after raising my rent $150, they shut down the pool. All utilities included means they can cut off your heat in April and cut off your outside water. If you like bad maintenance, sirens, and nonresponsive mgmt. Than move here!\r Pros: ....Yes, they do seem to rule the roost here Cons: .....Definitly not kid friendly more

Frequent Towing of vehicles 1/8/2009

Warning: The spaces are numbered and many guests don't realize that they are for guests only. If your vehicles is parked in these numbered spaces, some of the elderly residents take glee in getting your vehicle towed. It's a frequent problem and will cost you dearly! My sister was a caretaker for a resident who was dying of cancer and had her car towed after 20 minutes. She did not realize the spots were for residents and had to spend $150 to get her car from impound. more
