Cristina's

Sitting on the veranda of Red Fish Lake Lodge, ID, I was advised by a fellow traveler that if I yearned some really good bread, I should try Christina's in Ketchum.And I did. It took more than 20 minutes to get a baguette, 1/4 lb sliced cheese, and 1/4 ham. The boy behind the counter had to ask someone else if the ham and cheese could be sliced, and if they had a cured ham. And then someone else insisted that I indicate with the space between fingers how much cheese I wanted. The items arrived at the counter packaged but unweighed. So back to an unseen scale. Total bill $19+ for .4 lb cheese (my fault that my fingers don't know what 1/4lb looks like, 4 oz ham and a baguette. The ingredients were good but........ Oh yes! the baguette... an over floured, pale fellow with an ok, uninteresting taste. Instead,try the baguette at Odd Fellows Bakery in Salmon, ID. The equal to any bakery anywhere. ANYWHERE more

I have been going to Cristina's for years and the food is still amazing. Their baked goods and pastas are so fresh and tasty. The small home -like setting gives you the feeling like you walked into Cristina's home for a dinner party. It's a great location in the winter after skiing or on a warm Sun Valley afternoon.\r \r Also, pick up her cookbook. Great recipes! Pros: Delicious food and great service - Love Cristina! This place, as well as Cristina's cookbook, is a wonderful taste of perfection. All baked goods are made fresh everyday, and you cannot pass up the uniquely different soups that she will offer everyday. Obviously, the person who wrote the review before mine is a big city tourist that does not understand the European mantra of enjoying long meals with conversation and food. more

For the third year in a row, we waited for service during lunchtime for 30-45 minutes. There were plenty of tables available, but the host kept a line of people waiting out the door. Six wait staff were running around behind the counter, in total disarray, some not doing anything at all. So instead of getting a table, we opted for the salad bar, where no one helped us. Prices were exorbitantly high ($30/pound for candy. We don't even know how much the salad bar cost because no one asked to assist us!) There is not good management at this place. It could have been much more efficient. We walked out as did several other people. The one time we were served several years ago, the food was OK, nothing great. This place is definitely overhyped. There are other much better places to eat in Sun Valley. Pros: one of the few places open for lunch in Sun Valley Cons: worst wait time and poor service more
