It truly is a mixed bag at Creative Care. There are some real gems of teachers who we'd hire in an instant to be our child's caretaker if we could. Certainly, not all of the teachers are a problem. The infants, ""wobblers"" and young toddlers up to age 2 have pretty good support at this time. Teachers have been leaving however, and it is no surprise. There appears to be a significant issue with overcrowding and overenrollment, lack of supervision, lack of discipline and poor ratios in addition to being over legal ratio for their license and staffing. My child was regularly beaten by other children with toys while I was watching, and I witnessed this happen to other children. The teachers are either not caring or overrun with their enrollment to allow this, and the director absolutely refuses to acknowledge there is any problem. This was not an issue before the directorship changed not too long ago. Although the center had its issues, there was always the ability to be listened to, taken seriously and empathetically, and the issue addressed immediately. The current director is defensive and will not acknowledge any problem. Also, we witnessed a child running up and down the hall on the second floor being unsupervised, and it was a full 2 minutes before the teacher realized the child was missing. The boy could have fallen down the stairwell and been injured or worse. When the teacher realized he was missing, she left 3 young toddlers unattended in a bathroom to go after him, including my own child. This warranted immediate removal of my child from the center for their own safety. Yes, Creative Care is inexpensive (although the rates are going up steadily...two raises in less than a year), but its not worth the safety of your child. Additionally, one on one attention is not possible with these ratios.
