OK food, definite Southern touch 5/26/2006

If you want to gorge yourself, Cracker Barrel in Fishkill (on Route 9) is the place to do it. Cracker Barrel is the quintessential Southern chain restaurant -- generous portions, no skimping on the fat, with plenty of taste. I've eaten here a few times, and for the price, I"ve left happy. The quality is nothing to write home about, but Cracker Barrel has a solid following on the East Coast for a reason...comfort food. There are no diet items on this menu! An added plus (if you don't mind the calories here) is the good bang you get for your buck. more

Not a personal favorite - but not bad food 4/16/2006

I know some of my family really enjoys this place, but they are from the south - so I guess if this is the food you like go for it. I have had the roast a few times, and that isn't bad, but most of the rest of the food is VERY country. Make sure that is what you are looking for - collard greens, biscuits, and lots of gravy - on everything. On the good side they have a beautiful, if pricey, gift shop, and you can "rent" audio books for a very small fee. You buy them, but can return them and "buy" another for what used to be a $3 fee. more
