Two weeks prior to our arrival, we inquired to add another person to our party and as a result our CONFIRMED reservation was CANCELLED. It was completely unreasonable. It would have been perfectly acceptable to refuse our request and keep our original reservation, instead Marland canceled our reservation. Initially, Marland was accommodating but for some reason he turned out to be extremely rude. When we asked to increase our party size, He assumed that we were a ""GROUP"" (instead of a family) and treated us like a bunch of kids looking for trouble. The additional person we wanted to add was my AUNT and our reservation was for a family vacation with my sister and my parents. Marland refused to reinstate our original reservation and kept pushing us to look elsewhere. From the sounds of it, He may have overbooked for the upcoming Labor day weekend and this was an easy way out for him. Please save yourself the trouble and do not do business with him. I tried everything I could to clear up any misunderstandings and to get our original reservation back (seeing that it was only TWO weeks until our planned trip) but he would not budge! His reaction was highly unreasonable and overall, the conversation was off-putting. I would not recommend booking this place and risk getting your reservation canceled right before your trip. Marland said that after all these misunderstandings - he would feel ""awkward"" having us up at the cottage. It would have been all water under the bridge if HE had not made it awkward by offering better customer service and keeping our reservation. It is completely unreasonable AND unethical to cancel a reservation because of a simple inquiry. The whole conversation with Marland was completely bizarre. Renters beware
