A rugged park between the hills and the bay, this wildlife refuge is a good pace for bike riders and runners, as the trails offer a great view of San Francisco Bay.
It's a good place to see some native flora and fauna, though it's a bit more rugged than most traditional family parks.
There are also volunteer opportunities to repair ramadas and build family houses at a Tuibun-Ohlone village site for "Shellmound Mondays", as well as at the nursery, which is run by a grandfatherly man who is very casual and appreciative of the help. Good for people who want rougher and more authentic wilderness.
