Affordable Family Fun in the Fall 9/17/2009

My kids and I look forward to Cox Farms each year. It truly has become a tradition in the fall (and every other season for that matter). I've been pleasantly surprised this fall with all the savings being offered by Cox. For instance, just by becoming a member on their website, coxfarms.com, you get free passes to opening weekend and other great admission offers and discounts. It's free to become a member and so worth it! We're going to save $30 this weekend just by being a member! They always send emails out throughout the fall with great savings and we always take advantage of it! My in-laws like Senior Citizens Day on Tuesdays, which allows seniors free admission after 12 noon. I always buy a weekday afternoon value card, giving me 7 weekday afternoon admissions for the price of 5. That’s a savings of $18. Knowing I have the option of taking my kids on a whim in the afternoon, or asking a fellow mom and her kids to come along, is a big treat and a mental health saver for me! Overall, I love the experience of Cox Farms, the giant slides, farm animals and their babies, the hayride and more. Every year there is something new. Last year there was the Cornundrum. This year there's something called Kiddie Zone for kids 5 and under. That's definitely something I'm excited about. There's also the night-time Fields of Fear, which is way too scary for my young kids but my husband and I are definitely game. The Farm itself is a rare treasure, tucked away near the borders of Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince William County. I feel good about supporting a nearby farm and know that they support the community in a lot of different ways. If you haven't been to Cox Farms I hope you consider it. As hokey as it sounds, my family always makes memories to last a lifetime at the Cox Farms Fall Festival. And trust me, I've got loads of photos to prove it! more

Fall Festival and Easter are so much fun at Cox Farms 1/22/2007

Funnest place to go in pumpkin season is to the Cox Farms Fall Festival - month long fun. While they do not have a patch to frolic in, they do have huge (I'm taking over 100ft) slides that go through the hay, LONG hayrides, animals, free cider and apples. You need to pay an admission fee but after that - just about everything except lunch and hot cocoa are free. (They also do great FREE Easter Egg Hunts). http://www.coxfarms.com/ more

Cox Farms 8/18/2005

Cox Farms is one of my favorite places to go in this area. There are 3 seperate times at Cox Farms that lure us in. The first would be the nursery they set up in the spring. They have by far the best flowers in the area. All flowers that we have purchased from here have survived the entire summer and still looked beautiful going into the fall. Their prices are a little higher but I believe you get what you pay for in this case. The second is the farmers market in the summer - they have a fruit and vegetable stand set up - prices are usually a little higher than the markets but the vegetables are usually alot fresher. The third is the pumpkin patch in the fall - this is by far our favorite - the pumpkin patch is great for the kids and very reasonably priced. Overall Cox Farms is a great family place that I would recommend to anyone. more
