Cowen, Alan, MD - Comprehensive Women's

I started seeing Dr. Neal back in 2003 when I fould out I was pregnant with my daughter. I was sa scared 18 year old single mom who had no idea what was ahead. He was so understanding and helpful and very gentle. His bed side manner is the best I have ever seen. Since then I have referred by mom, 2 of my cousins and 1 best friend and they all love him to. He helped my best friend get pregnant after 3 other doctors said it wasnt possible. I am glad that I found him and hope that he will be around the deliver all of my children. more

Dr Cowen & Neal are not the doctors they used to be. Their focus seems to be elsewhere and not on the patient. Office seems to run smoothly - but question credentials of some office staff. Very long wait times. more

Dr. Neal was recommended to me by a friend after I had a really devastating experience with my then-current OB/GYN. I was expecting my first baby and had a lot of questions and fears. Dr. Neal is very medically sound and he brings a lot of knowledge and experience to the table. He never rushed our appointments (and all of my appointments ran over in time), and always made sure all of my questions were answered openly and honestly. He has a great bedside manner- I could arrive in tears and always left with a smile. The only negative is the time in the waiting room can run a bit long, but only because the doctors are so thorough once you're in the exam room. I always figured I'd rather wait a little longer and have a thorough exam with a top-notch doctor with plenty of time to ask questions than have my appointment right on time but feel rushed in the exam room so the office can "keep on schedule". more

Even though the waiting can be a bit long at times in the doctor's waiting room, it is well worth the wait. Dr. Cowen has delivered my last 2 children and he makes me feel like a part of the family! Dr. Cowen always seems happy to see you and takes his time to talk to you! He does not beat around the bush with the important things. When my 3rd pregnancy (out of 4) ended in a miscarriage, Dr. Cowen seemed almost as devastated as we were and was really excited when I got pregnant again even though it was a bit too early after the miscarriage. My youngest is now almost 5 yrs old and we still send Dr. Cowen a picture of the kids every year! Great Doctor and Great Man! more
