Sharing charge clarification! 8/1/2010

Guys, come on! Why do you think there is a sharing charge, anyway? Do you think they're gonna let 13 people come in and occupy a table, and only get one meal? Ok, a little exaggeration, but, seriously, they make their money when you order a meal! If you don't order a meal, they're gonna charge you because, thats what they would have made if you did order the meal. Read on... They charge 2.95 only if: There are more people at the table than meals ordered. (Ex. 3 adults come in, and they order two meals. Whether a plate is brought or not, they will probably still charge, because, come on, they do have to make money, and if you aren't planning on eating, don't go in!) So, to clarify this even further, they will NOT charge you if 2 people come in, and they order an omelet and a side of bacon. Even though the bacon is not technically a meal, they won't charge the sharing charge-I know this for a fact. Also, this charge does not-under ANY circumstances-apply to children. They can share anything, and not get charged. In my opinion, this is as fair as you can get. If you aren't going to eat, why go in and take a table up? Also, and this is from direct experience: If 2 people come in, and order one meal, and if the second person does not eat anything from the meal, the sharing charge will not get charged. And, in response to ""MtlRider"", if your girlfriend snitches from your plate, they aren't gonna charge you, come on!!! If you both have a meal, do you seriously think they will charge you for trading bites? Get real. They will give you AS MANY extra plates as you want-WITHOUT CHARGE-as long as there is a meal for every person on the table. And, from experience, I don't think the fact that they bring you a plate or not has any effect on the charge. They don't charge for the plate, they charge to share. I doubt that if you share, and are brought a plate or not, will make any difference on the charge. Bottom line, turn your brain on. They haven't been open for about 14 years by not knowing what exactly what to do. It probably is not easy to get the right mix of PR, price fairness, and service, but their mix is the best I've seen in a long time. I go there a lot, and I plan on doing so for a lot longer. If you don't want to pay the charge, get a meal, JEEZ, can't you take it home with you?? They don't charge to give you to-go boxes!!! more

I would go elsewhere 3/26/2009

I have been here twice, the first time was ok the food is fine but I think it's kind of expensive for what it is. The portions are large so we split a breakfast. We got a lot of static from the waitress because we did this. We did not ask for an extra plate or receive one but were charged a service charge for sharing. Kinda of stupid in my opinion. The real problem happened on the second visit. I ordered pancakes and I like them plain with just butter. I specifically asked the waitress for plain pancakes nothing on them. They arrived and were covered in powdered sugar. I asked her to please take them back and get plain and she was really nasty about it, acting as though I asked her to eat a kitten or something. There was a lot of loud talk back in the kitchen and I got a lot of looks from the other waitresses. Then she brought out the same pancakes but they had put them on the grill and seared the sugar in an attempt to get rid of it I guess. My wife and I could both clearly see it. I took one bite and they were like crusty candy pancakes. The waitress would never come back so I paid for my wife's breakfast and left mine on the table. This place has a bad attitude about anything you don't want to do the way they want to do it. .Not my ideal of a friendly dining experience. I would avoid it.. Pros: Food is not bad but over priced Cons: attitude and service more

Unbelievable Food and Great Staff 3/15/2009

Wonderful small town feel in a small place, great food, fun and responsive staff. Worth the trouble to track it down in the mountains outside of Evergreen. Pros: Fantastic food, huge portions Cons: None noted more

awesome breakfast 5/25/2008

This is my favorite breakfast place. It is worth the 45 minute drive from my house in Denver. Try the avocado bacon wrap... it's delicious! To the guy that gave Country Road 2 stars, please stop being so cheap and please find a girlfriend that can order her own breakfast. Thanks! Pros: everything more

LARGE FLAVORFUL PORTIONS! GREAT DESTINATION FOR A WEEKEND MORNING DRIVE! 5/2/2008

I have never been disappointed at Country Roads Cafe. I take family and friends when they are out visiting, and make excuses just to drive out with friends after getting up late on a weekend morning. The breakfast portions are huge, with fresh healthy ingredients like, avocado, prosciutto ham, thick bacon, a wide selection of cheeses including brie, delicious red pepper hollandaise sauce, the list goes on?.basically you get gourmet taste with country sized portions. The prices are really reasonable. I am a breakfast lover; so far Country Roads is the best combination of ambiance, price, flavor and service that I have found in the Denver/Boulder Area! Pros: Beautiful Drive, Great Service, Large Portions, Fresh Delicious Food Cons: Wish there was one in Denver! more

Real good but not wotrh the nickel and dime 3/2/2008

It is as good as described... No doubt the food is real good and the portion are huge. Although it very frustrating to be charge 2.95$, on a note already high, for ""sharing fees"" just because your girlfriend steal a bit from you plate. Pros: Real good food Cons: Nickel and dime more
