Guys, come on! Why do you think there is a sharing charge, anyway?
Do you think they're gonna let 13 people come in and occupy a table, and only get one meal? Ok, a little exaggeration, but, seriously, they make their money when you order a meal! If you don't order a meal, they're gonna charge you because, thats what they would have made if you did order the meal. Read on...
They charge 2.95 only if:
There are more people at the table than meals ordered. (Ex. 3 adults come in, and they order two meals. Whether a plate is brought or not, they will probably still charge, because, come on, they do have to make money, and if you aren't planning on eating, don't go in!)
So, to clarify this even further, they will NOT charge you if 2 people come in, and they order an omelet and a side of bacon. Even though the bacon is not technically a meal, they won't charge the sharing charge-I know this for a fact.
Also, this charge does not-under ANY circumstances-apply to children. They can share anything, and not get charged.
In my opinion, this is as fair as you can get. If you aren't going to eat, why go in and take a table up? Also, and this is from direct experience: If 2 people come in, and order one meal, and if the second person does not eat anything from the meal, the sharing charge will not get charged.
And, in response to ""MtlRider"", if your girlfriend snitches from your plate, they aren't gonna charge you, come on!!! If you both have a meal, do you seriously think they will charge you for trading bites? Get real. They will give you AS MANY extra plates as you want-WITHOUT CHARGE-as long as there is a meal for every person on the table.
And, from experience, I don't think the fact that they bring you a plate or not has any effect on the charge. They don't charge for the plate, they charge to share. I doubt that if you share, and are brought a plate or not, will make any difference on the charge.
Bottom line, turn your brain on. They haven't been open for about 14 years by not knowing what exactly what to do. It probably is not easy to get the right mix of PR, price fairness, and service, but their mix is the best I've seen in a long time. I go there a lot, and I plan on doing so for a lot longer.
If you don't want to pay the charge, get a meal, JEEZ, can't you take it home with you?? They don't charge to give you to-go boxes!!!
