Classy Tex Mex in the Back Bay 4/15/2006

Expect to pay more than you would at the average Mexican restaurant. However, in exchange, you get a nice atmosphere and quality food. They have a good selection of margaritas (though again, sticker shock may occur for some). This is a great place for after-work drinks, too, in the bar area. Relax a bit after 5PM with some nachos and fried calamari, and you'll go home quite happy. more

Expensive, but not up to par 4/14/2006

The frozen fruit margaritas are yummy, the food's ok, but not as inspired as you would hope. It's actually rather run-of-the-mill in terms of orginality. I don't think it's worth the money, the restaurant's fairly expensive (I think the pitchers of margaritas are around $30?). There's definitely better food to be had, especially since the area has so many restaurants. The decor's pretty nice though. more

highly recommended 2/13/2006

My boyfriend had a XX (first for him) and he loved it, served ice cold with a lime. For dinner, I ordered the grilled chicken enchiladas, stuffed with grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and topped with some great guacamole. A side of rice, beans, and fresh vegetables accompanied them. My friends ordered the jambalaya with chicken, shrimp and sausage mixed with a peppers and onions medley and served over black peppercorn pasta. For dessert, we ordered two orders of the chocolate nachos, which is a specialty of Cottonwood. Chocolate mousse and white chocolate mousse are topped with fresh berries in a glass and along the glass are shortbread cookies that have been dipped in chocolate. The overall ambiance of Cottonwood was very nice. There is outdoor seating which seemed to fill up pretty quickly as the night went on. The tables inside are rather close together, though. more

Good and convienient 2/5/2006

The Cottonwood Cafe is convieniently located on Berkeley street near the shopping districts of both Boylston and Newbury Streets. It's an excellent place to grab a bite as you're shopping downtown. They serve fabulous Southwestern salads and light meals during the lunchtime hours, so you will be sure not to weigh yourself down for the rest of your excursion. The service here is hit or miss- during the busier hours the waitstaff seem preoccupied and often forget what's going on with thier tables. Prices are mid-range for this area. more
