Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care

I've been there a couple of times now. My first time they did a great job and I never had another problem with that car and drove it for at least a couple of more years before I sold it. The next time I wasn't so lucky. I had the next car’s transmission rebuilt - but it failed within 18 months. Of course I had gotten cheap and purchased the minimum warranty. Doh. But instead of going somewhere else, I went back, but decided that time to get a junkyard unit. Cottman did the install for me but I had to turn around and bring it back before going a mile to tighten some connections. But for a much cheaper price, I got a better warranty from the junkyard which the yard actually honored when that unit went bad the following year. Cottman put that one in for me also, but did more professional job installing it. Now I've been on my second junk yard tranny for 3 years. Kind of makes one wonder how good the second rebuild was. more

I just found out about this review site, wish I knew earlier. I took my wife's truck to Cottman about a year ago. The clutch on her 95 Toyota Tacoma was on it's last leg, and I spent the day calling around to see how much everyone was charging to do this. Most shops wanted anywhere from $800 - $1100 for a clutch, the most expensive being the local dealership. Cottman's response of "five and a quarter" for the price surprised me. So I took it there, they charged what they said they would, and the problem was fixed. One year later her clutch is still working great, no problems. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take another vehicle there, keep up the good work Cottman staff! Pros: Everything, timely, good price Cons: None more
