I lived in the area from 1946 to 1967 and make the annual trip 'back home'. This is where the local residents eat. It's been there since the 1930's. Good food, good prices, large...

I lived in the area from 1946 to 1967 and make the annual trip 'back home'. This is where the local residents eat. It's been there since the 1930's. Good food, good prices, large portions, good service and HOMEMADE pies. If you're hungry, go here. The truckers pull off the freeway to eat at The Cottage and have done so for years. It's a busy place on the weekends, but well worth the wait !! more

Truck Stop Diner 4/18/2010

This restaurant is a well-known, classic truck stop diner. The food was good, family friendly and the portions were large. My daughters shared an entree of fish and chips and neither could finish their half of the order. Easy in/out access. more

Cottage Cafe 12/30/2009

The breakfast's at the Cottage Cafe are the best. The wait staff is all very friendly and try to make it the best experience. The prices were reasonable and the portions were good. more

truckers favorite 11/26/2008

This place has the best pies. We love their omelets. They are huge and recommend splitting one. The lounge is very cozy so we usually eat in there. Sheryl the cocktail waitress is so funny and brings you the best service. more

    Welcome to The Cottage Cafe & Lounge in down town Cle Elum, Washington. We specialize in great "Home Style" cooking at reasonable prices, including specialties from our own in-house bakery.


    We are good old home cooking restaurant. We are opened 6am till 12am, breakfast, lunch and dinner served all day long. We also have pull tabs and a really nice lounge with 3 TV's


    Our soups are made in-house, and we serve 2 each day. We also make our own gravy! Our country gravy is really special!


    We use real butter and other "real" ingredients for "real" food!


    We are a restaurant that has been in business since 1935, this makes our 76th anniversary.


    The Cottage Cafe began in 1935 by a local construction firm known as J.J. Masterson & Sons. Masterson quickly realized that he was no "restaurant man" and hired Mary Hawthorne to manage the Cottage in 1938. Mary did a remarkable job and began the legend of homemade pies, soups and goo-ole" American food.
    It was once said: "We cannot really own the Cottage, we are simply caretakers." Someday, we will be gone, but the Cottage will remain. A haven for hungry travelers, families and working people from all parts of the country.
