Costco - Not really a Baffling Ordeal 4/16/2006

While often ridiculed for the enormous quantity of each item on sale, Costco is an excellent place to shop if you have some freezer space. If you go the store in the early afternoon, you get the added bonus of free samples, served by surly ladies who perk up if you offer a hearty thank you. Eggs and milk are always a good deal at Costco and when you use their little book coupons, you can often save quite a bit of money. Another thing to mention is that the items at Costco, generally taste good. They have a limited selection because they carry such a lot of each item, so each item they do carry is actually of a fairly high quality. Unfortunately, you must be willing to deal with long lines at Costco. The best thing to do is to come on a Saturday morning or a Friday night and to bring as many family members as you can. Then you can be quite efficient in your mission and maximize your shopping efficiency. How many times have I seen a boy furiously pounding away at some Gameboy when he could have been running around the store, getting in peoples way as he searched in vain for a jumbo sized can of Chef Boy R Dee ravioli. Oh the triumphant look on his face as he returns to the cart and heaves his colossal load over the side, crushing the tiramisu beneath. You could get angry at him, but you decide, what the heck, he didn’t mean it, I’ll reward him with a chicken bake and a 4 pound block of cheddar cheese. Costco used to sell furniture and would have various couches and chairs out to sample, but it was just too comfortable, so they decided to replace them with a giant floating air castle that is forever out of reach. more

One of the best places to get tires, if you can wait 4/3/2006

Costco really is one of the best places to get tires because of the prices. Usually once or twice a year, they will offer a coupon for $60 off a set of four tires, or something similar. The best part of the deal is that the store offers free tire rotations for the life of the tires, and will fix or replace the tires within a certain number of miles. They do honor their warranty because I have had several tires replaced at Costco due to nails and other assortment of junk from my daily commute through I-495. more
