Hi, my name is Dr. Manisha Patel-Smith and I am the Chiropractor here at Cortlandt Chiropractic. I strongly believe in providing individualized, quality care to all of my patients. I have been practicing, going on fourteen years now. I received a Bachelor of science in Biology From Stony Brook University and a doctorate of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1999. Over the years I have worked in various practices utilizing what I have found to be the best techniques and the most innovative therapies that I have experienced. I believe you can't just treat the symptoms with out looking at the entire picture for optimal results. Treatment would be based on your specific needs with focus on correction of spinal mechanics that may contribute to your symptoms. In my experience I have found Cold laser therapy to be a phenomenal therapy for speeding up tissue repair as well as reducing pain. I utilize and incorporate all physical therapy modalities, such as electrical stimulation or ultra sound for tissue repair, reduction of inflammation or rehabilitation when necessary. I also cast patients for custom fit orthotics when necessary. In most cases I apply myofascial or muscle release as needed. I have had a great deal of success with the following conditions: low back pain, neck pain, disc injuries, sciatica, tendonitis, sprain/strains, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, head aches, reduce stiffness, jaw pain, hip pain and more. Cold laser therapy has been a wonderful instrument in speeding up the healing of conditions such as fractures, tendon tears, sprains/strains, and post surgical tissue repair. Remember, it's easy to let pain linger because you think it will go away but from my experience that's not usually the case. The cause of your pain usually lingers and progresses even if your symptoms go away. The symptoms will most likely show up again at some point. Please take care of yourself. Your body reacts to everything you do in life, work or play. Maintain it every now and then, especially if you are starting to feel a little ache or pain. There is nothing nor will there ever be anything better than prevention.
