Cortez Mexican Restaurant

Tex mex food.\r \r don't waste your money, unless you like texmex food.\r I took my wife for dinner last week, I order KC stake she order chicken fajitas,,,the most horrible thing chicken was not grilled (as menu said), the chef (or somebody in the kitchen) threw a bunch of tomatoe salsa on top of my steak...that was horrible.\r \r they replaced my order but, from there the service was horrible and expensive.\r \r the old Cortez (real mexican restaurant is gone)...now it is old american people's restaurant and have no problem with that.. more

This is Stewart Smith the former Abe's Steakhouse for its last 20 years of operation. I have decided to team up with Enrique Cortez so we can start to make one of the best restaurants in Wichita. It wont happen all at once. We are adding my expertise in areas and eliminating any bad problems that have had bad effect on service or other area's. This is a wonderful place and can and ""Will be"" the best from here on out. Enrique and Mary are the best. They have been at it a long time and now I am giving them a breath of fresh air. I want my fellow and past customers to know that I wont be able to have all my great dinners at once. They have the best mexican food in town. I also have many great dishes coming soon so keep checking with us. Also if there is ever a problem with service or anything just ask for Stu and I will be right out there to talk with you. I will make sure your dining experience is the best possible and I will always go that extra mile for my customers, which in the past my customers have always been like family, and I will not serve anything I dont feel fit to eat for myself day in and day out. Buffets on Wednesdays and Saturday's already have my awesome mexican meatloaf, and my chicken alfredo. Soon will come the Onion Rings and Garlic salad. Cortez a great Mexican buffet that will satisfy pretty much anyone in your group. The service and food is pretty good. I have my favorite two in town and while Cortez won't beat them (because of their specialty dishes), it is an excellent place to go even on off buffet nights. It's funny how the person who gave this one star said that Taco Bell was better. It just shows that they have absolutely no clue on what Mexican food it and they are probably better sticking to Taco Tico or Taco Bell. Sounds like fast food is more up their alley anyway. Pros: Excellent Mexican buffet Cons: They don't have the buffet often enough in the week. more

the food was terrible! it seemed as though no one wanted to work there and they need to understand with the economy today people are starting to be picky about where they spend there money and also going off recommendations and i would neither spend my money there again or recommend it to anyone else. the food was ok i would say even taco bell was better, and for a mexican restaurant that's a horrible compairison. there are plenty of better mexican restaurants on that side of town. the staff needs to get off their high horse and realize they are there to serve the customers not the other way around Pros: are there any???...nope Cons: horrible service and food more

We love to eat at Cortez on Saturdays at the best all you can eat mexican buffet in Wichita KS. There's something for everyone: traditional mexican fare such as chicken mole, roast pork verde and menudo; tex mex favorites like build your own fajitas, tostados and tacos; as well as some rotating surprises like fried chicken, spaghetti, and chicken fetticini alfredo. Don't let the location fool you (west of Broadway on 29th street north), the restaurant is clean and family friendly. They also have private party rooms for work or family get togethers. Last weekend, we noticed several Christmas parties going on. Rumor has it that they will begin Salsa lessons and dancing on Saturday nights...I can't wait! Pros: Great all you can eat mexican buffet Cons: Location is off the beaten path but worth the trip. more
