Fernando Gonzales (Cornerstone Proprietor) came to my home promptly when scheduled to assess my broken refrigerator. (dispenser leaking water and ice maker not working). He very quickly diagnosed one issue correctly, and very haphazardly misdiagnosed another. He determined that I needed a new water valve. I agreed. However he also, after very little investigation, concluded that I needed a new ice maker ; which I trusted as appliance gospel given he is the professional and also taking into consideration his positive feedback on yelp and citysearch.
Mr. Gonzales leaves and says he'd order the parts and follow up with me to schedule when to come do the repairs and that it should only be a few days. A week goes by and I do not hear anything. I call Cornerstone. No answer, leave message. Two days later someone calls me back and says the ice maker is going to be $165 and gives me a total bill for parts and labor and says they would call me back to schedule a time to do the work. To date, I have not heard a word back from them. Which is a blessing because after I decided I was not doing business with Cornerstone, I called Oak Hill Appliance to come out. They diagnosed the same valve issue, but also asserted that my ice maker worked perfectly fine and was inoperable because the valve was bad. Logic prevails.
The issue I have with Fernando Gonzales and his company Cornerstone Appliance is two fold. First and foremost, is the negligence underlying my service call whereby a careless assessment and an erroneous claim of unneeded repairs were made; a repair that would have found me replacing a perfectly good ice maker to the tune of $200. Secondly, would be the total lack of customer service, communication, and attention to my needs.
I am very disappointed and frankly shocked at the high marks this company has received to date. I must have caught Fernando on a bad day. Buyer beware.
Pros: Didn't charge me for the service call
Cons: Negligent diagnosis and never followed up.
