WELCOME! The Gulkana River is a recognized ?National Wild and Scenic River? and is one of the most popular sport fishing rivers in Alaska, providing rich habitat for rainbow trout, arctic grayling, king salmon, and red salmon. The season kicks off June 1st, with some of the most sought after kings in the valley. And ends with a late Sockeye salmon run in August. A 5 mile stretch of the lower river provides ample opportunity to catch salmon on their journey to the spawning grounds. The upper river is a 45 mile float offering an all around great river trip, offering premier trout fishing, camping, wildlife, whitewater, good times. It is a 4-5 day trip encouraged for all types of anglers and rafters. The Klutina River is the premier King salmon fishery in the state and home to some of the largest Kings in Alaska as well as a healthy run of the famous ?Copper River Reds?. Grayling, Dolly Varden and Rainbow Trout can also be found throughout the summer. Fast and Cold, the class III whitewater and limited access to the river keeps the Klutina River exclusive and quiet.
