Editorial review from Citysearch 8/30/2012

I have been going to Dr Moran for two years and I have not had any of the problems I have read here. My pain is soooo much better and his staff are always nice and helpfull. I have had to wait but that is to be expected when he is so busy, no worse then any other Doctors office I have been to. more

Dr Mark Moran - Low Opinion of Service 5/1/2012

Dr Moran is arrogant, unresponsive and does not respect the opinion of a patient. My pain has not really improved much since I have be seeing him and he is not concerned with my quality of life. My main complaint is that he does not listen to or consider what I have to say as being valid. He throws back complaints and concerns by saying that I should take it up with my primary care physician, even though I tell him that I feel that I need him to evaluate a particular problem. I feel mad, sad and bad when I leave his office; he has an air superiority instead of compasion and humanity. He smirks and walks away when being addressed. My pharmacy does not get timely responses for refills. He has given me responses that I know are incorrect and wants to argue if I speak up. The list goes on. The staff is kind and supportive. I really don't see how they work with him. He is not the guy to see for pain consultation. I recommend you stay far-far away from this frog prince. more

Oh my. I wish I'd read this first and taken the advice. Waste of time & money. Dr. Moron is exactly as the others before me say...horrible HORRIBLE bedside manner, God-complex, rude, obnoxious, ""whatever"" attitude, poor customer service, not as medically bright as he thinks he is. Dr. Moron needs to go back to just administering laugjhing gas and quit trying to pretend he knows the in's & out's of the human body. Not all but many on his staff also have very poor customer service skills. His treatment was a waste and did not include full disclosure. Again, if you are in pain either seek another practice or find an expert in whatever ails you. If your doc refers you to these folks you may want to question your relationship with your doc as this practice is running a racquet. more

user reviews 7/19/2011

You sour review people are just pissed off because you are in pain, so stop talking poorly of Doctors until you go earn your own medical degrees ! Then you might earn the right to speak intelligently. I think it is a good thing when a Doctor has some confidence and is willing to let a patient have input into treatment options, after all they are professional doctors. Some of the reviews here seem to be biased. When you see a Doctor you should not expect a miracle your first visit or two, they actually have many treatment options. Also a patient should be informed and study treatment options to be involved and not just give blind faith. Also for a patient to be giving other patients advice on who not to see, is careless reckless and slanderous. Maybe another patient will get great results with a doctor that you were not able to mesh with, and maybe the Doctor you rate highly would not be the right fit for another patient. more

Dr. Stephanie Jones 10/3/2010

Dr. Stephanie Jones and her nurse Chrys, have been absolutely wonderful! They are very understanding of the pain I'm in and they are the only ones I feel like they care and want to help me manage my pain. They work very fast and get things done and their staff are all very friendly. I would certainly recommend Dr. Jones to anyone!!! You are in great hands!!!! more

THE WORST DOCTOR EVER! 5/6/2010

Had an appointment for 10am and was seen finally at 11:30. The staff was not impressive at all. Finally got to see Dr. Moran and he looked at my X-Ray's for 2 seconds, no kidding. Not sure why I was even asked to bring them. Dr. Moran RUSHED through my 5 minutes with him. Went to a pain doctor expecting to get some pain relief. Instead he prescribed me steroids which I already had got from my Neurologist which did not do anything. Then he gave me something for arthritis. My problem was a slipped disk on my C5 and C6 vertebrae as well as a problem with my lower back which the X-rays showed had he taken the time to review them. I was so disgusted with the service I received from this ""doctor"" and I use the word lightly that I canceled my follow-up appointment. Now I have to find a ""real"" pain specialist to address my problem. I contacted my insurance company to file a complaint and request that they do not pay for this appointment because I don't feel as though I received anything but a script for something that has not helped one bit. I would not recommend this so called doctor to my worst enemy. My best advice to you is to find anyone else to address your pain issues. This ""doctor"" is the biggest QUACK I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of doctors. F- for this one! Pros: Pretty Office Cons: Dr. Moran is a definate con. Unbelievable bedside manner! more

Poor Medical Treatment - Dr Mark Moran 11/11/2009

Dr Mark Moran from Consultants in Pain Medicine was a good doctor in my opinion at first. Then it just got worse and worse. He did several procedures and tests, none that decreased my pain, and one of them actually made it worse! Then at the next appointment he told me he would do anything he could to help me but I need to research it on my own and figure out what procedures I WANT him to do on me. So get this straight? I have to research MEDICAL procedures I know nothing about and do his job for him? Smart talk doc. Just stay clear. I've had way better doctors. Waste of the money I spent on all the procedures and tests just to hear him say that I need to tell him how to treat me. Pros: nice staff Cons: not smart Dr. more

Very courteous, quick and knowlegealbe 5/23/2009

i have RSD of my right hand, have had it for years. Dr. Moran explains everythign before he does it and is thoughtful to the patients needs. I just recently had a neurostimulator put in that he reccommended and its working like a charm. I would recommend him to anyone in chronic pain. The office staff Adriana, Tracy and the rest of the girls are awesome, they do everything in thier power to solve problems or get something done that needs to be done. Pros: Understanding of the condition I have more

A bad experience!!! 11/26/2008

Well I was online and found a guy who had the same experience I did with a Doctor at Consultants in Pain Medicine. I thought I was alone in this whole experience I had with Dr Mark Moran. I would never of placed a review if i had not talk with this young man, so i think this is a GOD sent!!! I hope this stops people before they are put in the most uncomfortable position with this doctor. I have had severe pain for quit some time now. I looked at Doctor Moran for help, and just received grief and humiliation. I recommend that if you are to see this doctor DO NOT! Doctor Moran is a cocky, arrogant, and extremely ignorant Doctor. He did not help me in any way and has no business being a Pain Doctor let alone in the medical field! I leave this message with other fellow patients that Dr. Moran has mistreated. I am sorry you had to go through this horrible experience and hope you find a good pain doctor to help you!\r \r Jess: San Antonio Pros: He knocked before he entered Cons: The whole visit and his treatment, horrible and wrong i found out! Thank God for my new Doctor! more

Stay away from this clinic! Dr Moran is a horrible Doctor, and Dr Bacon is the Medical Director and allows it! shame on both of them! 11/26/2008

Shame on Dr. Mark Moran for his attitude and treatment he gives his patients! and shame on Dr Bacon for allowing such a horrible Doctor to work for Consultants in Pain Medicine! This medical facility is a joke and a waste of your insurance's money! Stay away from that QUACK FARM!!!!! They will not treat you right! These doctors work under the title ""Pain Doctors"" if you are a pain doctor, shouldn't you treat pain? They do not treat you! they talk down to you and make you feel like trash! I would not let Dr Moran work on a sick bird let alone my family! I have been a paramedic for 10 years and in my opinion? I would say that Doctor Moran is one of the worst Doctors i have ever been in contact with! I wish no one to experience what I had to! just horrible. Pros: The pros are ""I got to leave and drive away from Dr. Mark Moran!"" Cons: The cons are ""I had to let Dr. Mark Moran treat my family member"" more

Out of a bad experience, something great happened 7/22/2008

I had back surgery in 2002. I came out of it with ten times more pain than before. The neurosurgeon-not related to this clinic, was awful, I should have ran when I could, but I was told he was one of the best. The neuro doc dictated in his notes about me that all was great after my surgery, but didn't mention the uncontrollable pain I was in, but, he referred me to Dr. Jones. She has worked with me to get me in as optimal shape as possible. It took us time to get me on the best regimen, but she listened, and because of this, I've been able to work, and I'm thankful. When I've had exacerbations of pain, or muscle spasms, they get me in asap, and she's called me back after hours, many a time, when I've had problems. I also appreciate the staff, from the girls at the front desk, Dee, and to the nurses in the back. Diana, Tracy, and Amber...you're troopers, as well as the others, but you all have had to put up with me for 6 years now ; ) Cheers! P.W. Pros: Great doc, great staff, calming classy decor Cons: The rooms are cold, need blankets and hot tea more

Wonderful -- Dr. Jones 11/14/2007

Dr. Jones is absolutely wonderful. My husband has severe Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/RSD. She took him in as a referred patient from out of state, knowing that his case was very difficult, and has treated him wonderfully and expertly since he arrived. We couldn't be more grateful for her. She has gone the distance for him several times, including one very long surgery where most doctors would have just given up and assigned the problems to another day. Without going into details, she let everyone know he was important, and they all stayed with her and she fixed the problem and more. You know you have a great doctor when others will stay the distance with her and after a very long procedure, tell you how great she is and how happy they are to work with her. She is well respected- not only among those there at the offices, but out in the community, where we have mentioned her to family doctors, friends, etc. They know she is the best of the best. She is straight forward, honest, and compassionate. For my husband, whose disease is not seen often and very difficult to treat, she is a God send! And for me as a caregiver and spouse, I feel I can trust her care, which means the world. more

Responsive, compasionate, great bedside manner and quick 1/9/2007

Dr. Raul Martinez is an exceptionally skilled doctor who not only relieves your pain with treatment but also with his great bed side manner. A few months ago my husband threw his back out. After several days of sever pain and finally not being able to walk from the pain I convinced him to see Dr. Martinez. Typical guy my husband thought he could tough it out but agreed to see Dr. Martinez. I called and scheduled an appointment for the very next day after I called. Long story short... he gave my husband some shots and medicine for the back spasms and within a few hours he was 80% better. During his visit with Dr. Martinez they joked and laughed and for a few minutes it almost seemed like my husband had forgotten how bad his pain was. Being around Dr. Martinez and his positive reassuring nature put us both at ease. His staff was courteous and efficient and made our whole ""painful"" experience relaxed and pleasant. My husband has promised to see him again immediately if he throws his back out again instead of suffering for days before he seeks assistance. Convenient locations and they accept almost every insurance. He will be our pain doctor forever. Pros: skilled physician, saw us quickly which is important when you are in pain more

High Tech Facility, Most Efficient and Friendly Staff 12/6/2006

I am 32 yoa and have lumbar disc degeneration that I tried for years to manage without surgery. Unfortunately I did have to go the route of surgery, Microscopic Diskectomy L4-L5, and have been able to manage my pain prior to and after the surgery due to Dr. Jones. I have more knowledge of this area than I ever thought I would and having talked with NeuroSurgeons and Neurologists thoughout San Antonio, Dr. Jones is renouned for what she does. The Facility does ask depending on the prodedure that you show up 1 hour prior, so that wait should be expected, but once you have begun your produre the state of the art facility and staff, efficiently move you from start to finish and make sure that you are properly tended to the entire time. Being raised in a military family with horrible wait times and not so friendly staff, Dr. Jones herself takes time to not just quickly manipulate procedures, but listen and tend to you as well. She completed 3 injections in the summer of 2006 and now after my operation will complete another series. I am very greatful to have found her and will continue to see only her for these procedures. Pros: Efficient Staff more

The Best 9/18/2006

I started seeing Dr. Jones in the hospital in 2002 after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I was living in Texas at the time. I then started being her patient after my release from the hospital. No other doctor ever ever beleived me that I was experiencing as much pain as I was. Dr. Jones did. She has been so compassionate, always listening to me no matter what my question or complaint is. Since being her patient my pain has stabilized, and I am now able to work. Prior to seeing her I hadn't worked in 5 years. I now live in PA and fly to Tx to see her every 3 mos. It is completely worth the time and expense. I have tried to find pain doctors in PA and no one listens and makes me feel like I am making all this up. Like I said, she will be my doctor as long as I am able to make the flights to texas. I love her, she's the best! Pros: Dr. Jones and staff are very compassionate and listen to all I have to say. Cons: Long wait, but worth it! more

unresponsive to my needs as a patient 7/25/2006

I had switched doctors due to a personal conflict. She came into the exam with her mind already made up based on her contact with prior doctor. I was immediately ""labeled"" . I can believe that my treatment was decided before I arrived and was examined in her office. \r The name suggests that they will treat long term pain, as I have. I think most ""pain management doctors"" are most interested in doing procedures like steroid injections instead of writing medicines that actually work for the individual patient.\r I am not unrealistic in expectations either. Would I like to be ""cured"" ? ya betcha. Do I feel she has tried to work with me? NO. I do expect a doctor to be flexible and change course of treatment that fits the patient's needs. I do not feel she was interested in what I had to input into my care.. SHE DID NOT LISTEN (HEAR) what I had to say. \r I will say that I think she is a good technichian at the procedure she performed on me.\r I also will say that I arrived early for the procedure and had to wait an unexpected LONG time for the procedure- without explaination. Pros: verey modern surgical site Cons: ran way late with no explaination- Dr. was not in tune with my needs more
