Excellent !!!! Excellent !!!! Excellent !!!! 11/28/2010

I wish Dr. Johnson were my own personal physician. She spent an hour going over all the options available for my dog with Hip Dysplasia. The staff is organized, compassionate and friendly. I think she did a great job on the surgery, and I would recommend her to anyone in the Charlotte area in the need of a Veterinary Surgeon. more

The amount of care and experience received makes them the best In my most worrying and agitated times where I needed help for my cat who had dental problems, I have found that Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte to be a place of comfort-a highly trustworthy institution where I could rely on fantastic doctors and nurses who helped my cat as if she was theirs. Detailed explanations and care we received was the BEST in the world. more

Compassionate Care is better than your average vet 11/8/2010

I've been taking my dog, Beringer, to a different vet with varied results and not much instruction or options given. I took him to Compassionate Care and Dr. Johnson and staff exceeded my expectations. They were able to do the basics to get his file started and to see where he was at and when I came to pick him up they went over all of his vitals with me and gave me several educated options as far as treatment and how I wanted to proceed. Needless to say Beringer has been feeling better than ever and I'm looking into further treatment with Compassionate Care as needed. more

Compassionate Care is Great for Cats! 8/24/2010

I had a stray cat show up on my doorstep a few months ago that needed a good home. After hearing that the old sardis animal clinic had a new staff and new management...now compassionate care vet hospital of charlotte, I decided to give them a shot. I was so impressed with the quality of service Dr. Ryan provided. You can really tell the difference when someone's just doing their job/going through the motions vs. truly passionate about the work they do. Dr. Ryan thoroughly answered every question I asked and really took time to help me understand how to best take care of my new cat. It kinda felt like talking with an old friend....Another thing I really liked about this hospital is they don't nickel and dime you for EVERY tiny detail! The prices were fair and reasonable and there were even certain vaccines I thought I needed that they said I could wait on. Now THAT is good business practice. Check these guys out, you won't be disappointed. more

Staff mostly friendly, but can be incompetent 5/6/2009

I brought my sweet-tempered Border Collie, in for his regular heart worm test and bordatella booster. A friendly, young vet assistant attempted to get a sample from my dog in the exam room with me holding my pet (though a sign in the room plainly stated that for safety reasons, pets would be treated in a back room). She didn't get the vein so she withdrew the needle and raised the back of her had to my dog’s muzzle. My dog, who had been friendly and playful with the vet asst. now bared his teeth to show his disapproval with the needle stick and to warn her not to try it again. The veterinary assistant seemed to notice his displeasure and said she would have to take him to the back room and get another person to help her with the procedure. It was moments after she had disappeared with him that I heard a commotion and was told by another vet assistant that my dog had bitten someone. I'm not really sure what happened as everything took place out of sight. I was surprised to hear this news because I was sure that the assistants would have muzzled or otherwise restrained my dog since he had already warned the first vet assistant that he was no longer happy. To make a long story short, Animal Control was called, I had to sit in the exam room for an hour and a half like a prisoner (lost work time) and my pet ended up being quarantined for 10 days -- all because the staff at this place didn't take simple safety precautions to ensure my pet and their staffs' safety. Pros: Convenient to many neighborhoods in SE Charlotte Cons: Expensive and staff needs safety training more

Friendly staff but not knowlegeable 9/19/2008

Although staff is friendly, they are careless and not very knowledgeable. I took my pet in for her second set of shots. (they examine the pet in the back so that you are not able to see what is going on and ask questions right away) When they brought her back to me the vet told me that she had cleaned out my puppy's ears' because I had not been doing it and that one of them was very waxy and smelled really bad. I then explained I had just cleaned her ears less than 2 days ago that she had been crying and scratching one ear alot and wondered if she had an ear infection. The vet told me no it was just wax. I asked if it was normal for only one ear to be so dirty, so quickly and if there could be another reason my puppy could be crying. I was quickly told again no its just wax ,puppy's cry. Two days later her ear was just as bad as it had been before the cleaning. I had to take her back in and the same vet told me it was an ear infection. Not only did I have to take her back but my poor puppy had to go another couple of days of being uncomfortable b/c of the vets error. What was really annoying is that her ear and symptoms were the same as 2 days before. They are also very careless. My pet has food allergies and whenever I go there they try to feed her treats that she can't have. I have to remind them she's allergic, they then look at her chart and realize she can not have the food. They have also tried to give her medicine while she was already on another treatment. I had to remind them she was already on medication and would this medicine work with what she is taking. The vet had no idea what I was talking about and I told her it was probably on her chart... I watched in horror while the vet turned the page to verify what I was saying. Had I not reminded her she would not have remembered. Had she simply checked her chart this wouldn't have happened. I really wish I would have found a different vet in the first place. Cons: carelessness, medicine is 3x's what a friend pays for hers, you can't see pet getting examined more

Care more about your cash than your dog 7/8/2008

INCREDIBLY frustrating experience today. Numerous misrepresentations & CONSTANT pushing to sell us more care than our dog really needed or than we were willing or able to pay. On first call the office manager passed himself off as a nurse & gave us a preliminary diagnosis over the phone with a quote for about $85 for a routine exam, gland expressing & boarding for the day- saying we could pick her up at 5:30. So, plans made we dropped her off at 7:30 this morning where we were immediately told she had to be picked up by 4:30 by two different people & that she would be ready by lunch. Doesn't work when you work full time! Then we were given a list of preliminary work that would ""need"" to be done totaling about $600(which we refused)-before anyone saw her & not including ANYTHING we asked for the previous day. We talked to them throughout the morning, always changing their recommendations & adding to the bottom line- again just for preliminary work not including an exam or treatment plan. Since we were told we had to pick her up by 4:30, I took a late lunch to pick her up. By this point we had been talked in circles by the vet, the front desk & a nurse or two (not including the office manager who said he was a nurse- found out -not so much...) & still nothing we had asked for was done! On arriving at the clinic- my husband was on the phone w/ the vet trying to figure out what was going on, she tried to tell me that he was about to approve bloodwork ($200!). On talking w/ him, he was NOT approving anything, just trying to understand why she wanted to do what she was recommending & why they weren't caught on her last visit. She also told him that we could definitely pick our dog up at 5:30- too little too late-I was waiting in the lobby. I finally said enough- asked what had been done (still nothing we asked for)- told them what we originally asked for, they FINALLYdid it- got her paperwork & a bill for $153 for work we did not approve! Grrrrrrrrrr... Pros: Clean, convenient Cons: Too many- I am speechless more

They love your pets like their own 9/13/2007

I love the hospital's doctors and staff. I think they give top level care at a reasonable price. They also take the time to explain all the procedures. Dr. Lanier-the newest doctor-is simply wonderful! Pros: great service, good prices more

Compassionate Staff and Great Facility! 1/23/2007

I grew up bringing my animals to Dr. Cornell. Two years ago, I adopted two dogs and we went to another vet. After a while at the other vet, I grew increasingly wary of them and switched back to Sardis Animal Clinic. The vet's listen to you as the owner of your pet. They understand that you are the one that knows your pet inside and out and they'll listen to you if you think something is not right. They explain in detail what is going on with your animal and they don't rush through a diagnosis and send you on your way. They listen to your questions and answer them to the best of their knowledge. This is not just a first time visit thing, I have received the same quality and standard of service each and every time I have ever brought my pets into this practice. Pros: Clean facilities, caring staff, experienced vets, great atmosphere! more

Great staff and wonderful facilities. Very convenient hours and location for me. 6/25/2006

Excellent customer service and a very caring staff. I felt comfortable entrusting my little Sparky to their care. Dr. Cornell and Dr. McGarry both worked very hard to help our family through a difficult time. They also were able to tailor Sparky's health program around my busy schedule with work and kids. They made going to the veterinary hospital as easy as it could be and I thought there prices were good also. Pros: Great hours, caring staff, experienced doctors more
