This place is right in my neighborhood, but I've given up on hoping for an adjusttment in their attitude toward customer service. We've purchased high-end supplies from Community for several remodeling projects over the years, and gave them another shot for supplies for the most recent project, but got "attitude" again and have had it too many times from there now. On the advice of a friend, we ended up at Advantage Plumbing on Milwaukee in Niles, and the difference is night and day as far as customer service and friendly assistance. Advantage has the same if not better quality and selection, a fantastic showroom, and the friendly customer service you expect from a store when you are going to drop several thousand on merchandise. In the past I tried to address the poor customer service with one of the owners of Community Home Supply, and indicated to him that I experienced indifference from both his general manager and from sales people in his store, and his response was that perhaps I was the one having a bad day myself during that visit . . . which is not what you need to hear when you've been given a hard time in a store. I was willing to give them another shot, but got the same smug attitude again, like pulling teeth to get information, no willingness to offer suggestions or go out of the way one iota for getting specs or price comparisons. Done with Community, hello Advantage!
Pros: Has selection of hundreds of different high-end plumbing supplies, most by catalog.
Cons: Since comparing different options requires assistance, shopping becomes a fight with indifferent or passive-aggressive sales staff.
