Had Comfort Specialists Install a new oil boiler. . They explained everything to us showed us our savings and efficency on the new unit. Very neat when removing the old unit. He never gave us an evaluation of what the problem is and what it would cost to fix. Isn’t this standard protocol, common courtesy and heck the law in NJ to do so? He just took it upon himself to do the work without a “go ahead “and approval of cost from us. Also there was NO FREE ESTIMATE which is very very common almost standard practice for this type of work. He hands us a bill for $588. Including a $125. Diagnostic fee (free estimate??, NO) SHOCKED I looked at him and said,, What? Where’s the estimate?? You are supposed to give people an estimate before just taking it upon yourself to do the work and charge whatever you want and then demand payment. When we expressed our unhappiness about the situation, HE THREATENED TO HAVE HIS ATTORNEY PUT A LIEN ON OUR HOME if we didn’t pay up right away. no trust no respect no thank you. Our friend the HVAC guy helps us get our furnace back up and running again fixing what Comforts Specialist’s did not and re-confirmed that was $300. Job period,,, and we were charged just about DOUBLE .. more

I found comfort specialists to be fair priced, and they arrived at my house when I asked them to be there. I work in the city, and my wife in Piscataway, and no other company we called was willing to work around our time frame. more
