Had lunch today (take out) from this place on recommendation from a colleague. While I am always raving about another dilworth restaurant's wings, he said this place has wings that are better. Blasphemy...But I decided to give it a shot.
Busy today around the office, I decided to get take out. Called in the order for 6 wings, buffalo; and a small side salad. Went over to pick it up and upon walking in, it hit me, this is a cool little place. Its very inviting but rustic. Everything seems clean and the staff is laid back and friendly. There is not a whole lot of seating, but something tells me that it doesn't get slammed for eating. The kitchen is a combo of secluded in the back and actually right behind the bar which seems like it could make for a bartender/cook clash if its busy, but it's nice to see the food being prepped in front of you every now and then.
The drink specials are some of the best around, Half off all alcohol on Wednesdays (for those who don't work, or don't care going in hungover in the middle of the week). Every day you can find $1 highlifes or PBR, or some sort of good $2 pint which makes it an inexpensive place to have a good time.
Now to the food. I had so-so expectations of this place going in and was blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The salad was a nice bed of romaine with chopped fresh tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers with homemade ranch. The wings were actually really good. Nice and tender, non fatty, crispy texture and full of good flavor. Cooked to perfection.
I am glad I took the leap of faith in the colleague to try this place out. I will definitely be referring this place to many friends and cannot wait to try other food on the menu.
Pros: Surprisingly Welcoming, Good Food, Inexpensive, Laid Back
Cons: Hidden in a sketchy looking building
