I've always loved the Improv, but I have to say the Brea Improv was a tremendous disappointment. The comedy show was GREAT (Russell Peters), but the staff was completely unreasonable and my guest and I were treated like common barflies.
When another patron complained that were ""laughing too loudly"", I tried to resolve the situation with the mgr, who completely refused to listen to me at all. First of all, when are you not allowed to laugh loudly at a comedy show? The second accusation is that we were ""hooting"" and ""cat-calling"" the stage, which is completely untrue. I agree we laughed loudly (but DUH, it was comedy show), but we absolutely did NOT cat-call or ""hoot"". The initial staff who came to talk to us was polite, but when it came time to talk to the mgr, the mgr wouldn't budge and began making up add'l accusations (he was nowhere in sight, so I'm unsure how he could have possibly been so sure we were ""hooting"" or ""cat-calling"").
I am a 40 year old professional, not a 21 year old drunken college student (which is how I was treated). I was completely and absolutely offended at the way the mgr handled the situation. He was patronizing, rude, and unprofressional.
Pros: great comedy
Cons: not allowed to laugh
