Comedy Club

The Comedy Club on State is really cool. The first time I heard about it was when my friend had a his bachelor party. We had gone to the Comedy Club on State (among other places), and everyone agreed that the Comedy Club was definitely the most memorable part of the evening. It's really sad that Amanda B person had such a bad time at the comedy club she felt the need to take the time out of her day to post two of the same comments. There are some people who can't handle this kind of environment. Amanda, maybe you should try the children's museum for a more entertaining time :) I think that is located in downtown Madison as well. By the way, if you had such a terrible experience the first time, why go again? Your obviously going to go in with a negative attitue. \r \r Basically, if you don't like to have a good time, if you don't like comedy that is for people who are 18 and up (this can sometimes mean rated R comedy - not like The Office or Everybody Loves Raymond or something). Stay home and rent a movie, you'll save a ton of money and have a much better time. There is nothing funny about this place except that it has managed to stay in business. I have been here three or four times and have been treated poorly by the owner and his staff every time. They attempted to seat six grown people, who are all expected to order two drinks minimum, at a table with a 2 foot diameter. We were told that "they were not full enough to seat us at a booth" - whatever that means. I surmise that this place will never be full enough - judging by how empty it was on a Saturday night word has apparently already gotten out to not bother wasting $ at the Comedy Club on State Street. The owner is abrasive and rude and apparently trains his staff to behave the same way. The obese waiter with the glasses, bad haircut and an even worse attitude threw my friend's cashmere coat on the floor and told me that he hoped I got in an accident on the icy roads on my way home. There is a 2 drink minimum per person - just so you know! The drinks taste good, but are not cheap. The performers come in from different cities. When I went, there were three different people telling jokes. They weren't incredibly funny, but funny enough that I'd go again. more

There are really only a couple things you want out of a comedy club and one is to have people that are remotely funny telling the jokes. I had had a couple drinks before I got there, so I was ready to laugh. Too bad they didn't have anything funny to say. more

The Comedy Club does a great job bringing in performers from all around the United States. Like most comedy clubs, some of the acts they put on miss the mark, but usually you'll have a good time. more

This is the only comedy club in Madison. If you like to watch stand up comedy and you want to watch it live in Madison, this is where you want to go. Their show is pretty good. The tickets is not expensive and they usually have "special" price for Wednesday night show. You can buy the ticket on the counter or you can make reservation by calling their 1-800 number or sending them email. more
