I've had all three and I love broadband. DSL was better than dial up and cheaper than Cable but still had quirks I didn't like and then I tried Cable Modem and hope I never have to go back to one of the other two. Time is important to me so I prefer the speed of cable modem.
DSL still seemed slow and also seemed to "hang" on me. Dial up seems to be a waste of time and there were so many things I couldn't do on dial up. I have Comcast and I get a lot of extras for with my service such as a firewall and McAfee security for free.

If you can afford it, try one of the high speed internet connections. There are usually pretty good deals for the first three months or so. See if you think it is worth the extra money while getting the service for a discount or even a free gift for trying it out. Just don't sign up with a provider that you need to sign a contract for more than two or three months. Most in my area do not have clauses that say you have to keep it for any specific set time.
