The risk with B&Bs is that the atmosphere of your stay is primarily driven by the personality of strangers. Fortunately, the Columbine is run by two great hosts. The decor is elegant and free from any of the "country crafts" touch that make so many Kentucky B&Bs a tacky, quilted Hell . The back decks and well-manicured yard are relaxing. There is off-street parking, decent neighborhood bar and grilles within a short walk, and it is a very brief drive or cab to downtown. I had some reservations about the private bath being located outside of the room, but I wasn't bothered by this during our stay. Cool inside during 100-degree heat. Comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfasts. The hosts, Rich and Bob, are Bostonian transplants. They're personable, interesting, very helpful with local recommendations, and go out of their way to make all of their guests feel comfortable. However, there is a natural human limitation to how accomodating you can be of certain people in a place that is also your home. Therefore, if you believe that there were WMDs in Iraq, that gay marriage threatens the very fabric of our nation, and that global warming is a liberal lie, you may be more comfortable at the Hilton.
Pros: Great breakfast, elegant, very friendly.
Cons: None
