Great Layout, but lacks attention to details 4/2/2008

The course is a challenging layout, but the ownership does not know how to really run a golf course. The course lacks attention to details. For example, there is no intermediate cut of rough, you either put it in the fairway or you are in the rough. Worse yet you often end up pushed up against the rough with a poor lie. The course is also over-ridden with poison-ivy. They pulled much of it out last year but much of it is back. The bunkers are extemely inconsistant. Some have very rocky sand, other very fluffy sand. Some bunkers are deep sand with no base, while other are only 3 inches of sand over a base. The difference is the new bunkers they added are built one way and the old bunker are built completely different. Many of the cart path areas are also no well kept. The course still looks very much like a public course with how it is maintained. Pros: Good layout Cons: When the wind comes from the right way you can smell the garbage dump mountain that looms over the course more

Best secret on LI 8/2/2007

This is one of the most difficult courses I played. I would say that it is harder then Bethpage Red by far. Its private now and it was modernized by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The new pines is very hard. The course had to be re-evaluated by the PGA because of the amount of work done. See if you can get a member to get you in as a guest. Pros: Thumbs up! great track for the serious player Cons: If you do not drive, LIRR stops .5 miles from the gate more

You have to check out the driving range. 5/30/2003

I just wanted to point something out - there is a beautiful driving range at Colonial Springs, I have no idea why the discripition says there is none. It has grass tees and is one of the most impressive ones I've ever seen. The course itself is one of the best on this island. The food is excellent and so is the service. If you play there once you'll want to do it again. more

Nice Golf Experience 10/28/2002

Really nice golf course, feels like your at a country club. Three nines, instead of the usual eighteen. Course seems very well maintained. I had a very pleasurable and relaxing golf experience. Nice resturaunt with great food is a plus. Spotless locker room with helpful and friendly attendent. My shoes were shinier than ever!! Pros: Good greens, Helpful staff, clean locker room Cons: expensive, somewhat crowded more

The View 10/18/2002

Beautiful course, well maintained. Not very difficult and very pricey. There are better courses for that kind of money!!! Pros: Upkeep, views Cons: Price, Price, Price more

NASTY 8/16/2002

This overated golf course is staffed by the nastiest group of nonprofessionals I have ever seen. They are rude, and completely unhelpful. They think they are the great keepers of the flame, but forget that golf is a form of entertainment, not a religious experience. The courses themselves were overpriced, poorly marked, and the greens generally poor. Many players seem to ignore the ban on metal spikes, and the greens show the wear and tear. Cons: staff, markings, greens more

cemetery golf 5/27/2002

who would of thought, there would be a golf course next to a cemetery. But this 3 9 hole course is set right next to pinelawn cemetery . The layout is challenging and the greens are in great shape. I recommend playing this course. it's worth the price. more
