I would advise you avoid the college bakery at all costs. We were recommended college bakery for our wedding cake because of their low prices and decent cakes and so we made an appointment for a cake testing, as we did with lots of other local bakeries. The trouble started with college bakery at the mere scheduling of an appointment. The manager (and co-owner apparently) Teresa stated that the bakery did not do a cake test without ordering a cake. After explaining it would be illogical to place such an expensive order without trying it first she negotiated a cake test and said she would be there and allow us to sample some of their cakes. When it came time for the appointment we walked in and were not greeted, we explained we had a cake testing appointment and received nothing but but a puzzled expression, the girls apparently had not been told there was an appointment that afternoon. When we asked to see the manager who said she would be present we were told she was unavailable. Frustrated we asked for a sample of wedding cake and we were given what had to have been day old sheet cake sitting out complimented with canned strawberries. The cake was awful tasting, but we gave our reference the benefit of a doubt and looked through their wedding cake brochure. The cake we wanted was nearly $1,000, not a "deal" by any means. Our next appointment was at Kat's Cakes...it was a much better experience, cakes were better tasting, better decorated and more reasonably priced!! I suggest if you are in the market for wedding cake you go there first, and avoid college bakery at all costs!!
