I've known Rick since the mid-90s and have used this repair shop for ALL of my leather goods and shoe repair needs ever since then. Won't go anywhere else. In addition to countless pairs of boots and shoes, he has repaired my leather and fabric purses, leather duffle bags, etc. I haven't brought something to him that he hasn't been able to repair professionally. I just recently brought in a pair of boots to be ""made new again"" for the third time, because they're my favorite boots and I've worn them out three times over the last 13 years (soles and heels).
He has always proved to be very reliable, professional, great work AND very friendly. He's never given me any grief about anything even when I question him about something. Makes me wonder if the customer who was yelled at to ""Leave now!"" was bitching him out, screaming at him, threatening him, or otherwise being foul to him, because that's not the Rick I know. He's always been quiet but friendly, never nasty. No matter how calm and low key one may be, we all have our breaking point when our limits are pushed by certain nasty customers.
I don't usually call first, I just drop off my repairs, so I was surprised this last time to find that he only takes checks and cash (no credit cards). When I asked him why the change he said due to the bad economy, he had to cut down on certain expenses (like CC fees) so he wouldn't have to raise his prices. Good enough reason for me!
