poor excuse for a coffee shop 3/26/2008

I visited Coffee Works recently after a long absence, all I can say is go somewhere else! The only outstanding quality of the place was I was treated nicely by the guy at the register. The prices are sky high, a little higher than Starbucks, and the quality of the product was at the best ok. I thought about getting a sandwich but the prices cost as much as a medium pizza at the pizza place next door, no sandwich is worth that much money. It seems like they have live music there a few nights a week, but the music is so loud and overbearing you can't talk at a normal level, that is if you are able to find a seat on a Friday or Saturday night. I don't think I'll ever go back again. Pros: Nice staff Cons: Expensive! Long wait for service/food/drinks, loud more

Good Coffee, Volatile Atmosphere 11/24/2007

I frequent cafes throughout the Delaware Valley and have found Coffee Works Roastery and Cafe to be about average when compared to similar independent cafes. \r The menu of food is limited to soup during the fall and winter, salads, and a menu of panini sandwiches and wraps. The food is usually very good. The highlight of the selection is the choices of coffee and espresso beverages, as well as smoothies and teas. The coffee and espresso beverages are always excellent. \r On a Friday or Saturday night, the cafe itself is usually bustling with activity, sometimes with no room to move on the inside of the shop. The atmosphere at night can be hectic and pushy sometimes, especially when very busy, and occasionally the volume of the live music is so overwhleming that it is difficult to hold conversation, but only after 7 pm. This occssionally has been troublesome for me for a few reasons:\r *The volume of the live music is sometimes so loud it is difficult to hold conversation\r *The ample business made sometimes made the wait for service more then 20 minutes\r *The hectic atmosphere at night sometimes make using lap tops very difficult as a result of a limited number of tables.\r *The environment on busy nights is not friendly to those who are visiting alone. I work on my laptop and am usually alone when visiting coffee shops and have, on more than one occasion, been hassled by the establishment's manager to get up and move my food, drinks, laptop, and occasionally books around from table to table to 'make room.' This has only occured to me when alone and working on my laptop, never when with company of any kind. If alone, seek another cafe to visit on a Friday or a Saturday night or expect the manager to ask you to move around at least one to 'make room.' This is the only coffee shop I have ever been in where I have experienced this problem. \r * If visited during the day, the atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet. Pros: Good Coffee and Espresso, Excellent Service Cons: Sometimes loud and hectic atmosphere, not individual friendly when busy more
