The Scene
While this lakefront hotel is often cited for having the only floating moveable golf green in the world, this notable feature is just one of its many attractions. This fun, round-the-clock retreat wows all types of crowds, from those who come to relax (check out the signature Wildflower Facial at the Spa) to those who come to work--the 26,000-plus square-feet of meeting space includes floating boardrooms and set-ups on the front lawn. The resort is busiest from April through October, but winter draws crowds, as well, who come for skiing at nearby Silver Mountain and the December-long Winter Extravaganza, which features the largest holiday light show of its kind in the country.
The Details
Rooms range from Economy to Premier with fireplaces. All are comfortable and done in a simple but tasteful style. The latter are located above the seventh floor in the 18-story tower and have fireplaces and lakeside balconies. West-facing Deluxe Rooms offer wall-to-wall water views. Northwest ingredients such as morel mushrooms and wild huckleberries are highlights at Beverly's, where a demonstration kitchen gives you the chance to watch chefs preparing gourmet meals while you dine. The waterfront golf course was "renovated" in 2003 with new tees, greens and trees. Wedding facilities include a lakefront chapel for up to 24. The resort's famous "Spirit of Coeur d'Alene" cruise ship is among the local fleet that plies the lake.
