Coastal was recommended by several of our neighbors. I called and was scheduled promptly. They arrived on time and did a cleaning & inspection on my fireplace. There were a few repairs that needed to be done & I called the office, my repairs were scheduled within the next few weeks. My fireplace works great. All of my questions were answered. In Sept. of this year 2010, I called CCS to clean my stove and chimney & give me an estimate to line my chimney, as my house is old, and I wanted to make sure it was safe through the winter season. I heat my house with wood only, with no other heat source and told Mr. Lovell this right off the bat when he arrived. He cleaned my stove & supposedly my chimney saying he'd get back to me with the estimate to line it... After a month and a half, I'd heard nothing, so called..After another two weeks, and getting closer to winter's temps, Mr Lovell calls and gives me an estimate, tells me I can use stove, until he lines the chimney, as it's now getting colder and my house's only heat source is wood heat...Long story short..The stove would not draw, will not work.. (Even before it was cleaned it HAD worked GREAT) Mr Lovell has cancelled two appointments to line the chimney, the last appointment he cancelled, he didn't call till 1pm, and I'd taken the whole day off from work in order to be here as it was done.. It is now Dec. 27th, 4 months later , 24 degrees and I have no heat in my house..Coastal Chimney Sweeps has proven themselves to unreliable while ALSO leaving me a woodstove that is unsafe & unusable. After over 20 years of heating my house with wood, this company has been the WORST experience of my life.. Now, I have to pay another $125 just to have ANOTHER inspection done by someone else, and that doesn't include actually cleaning a chimney that I'd already paid Mr. Lovell to do.. I would recommend anyone to run the other way in dealing with Coastal Chimney Sweeps..If I could rate this company a -10..I would.. more
