Editorial review from Citysearch 1/27/2016

1/28/2016\r Coan Oil . Had them for 16 years. Figured the bigger the company the better, WRONG ! Parents had them in NEWTON. I was busy working for years in my business, and my wife paid the bills. Never thought to check oil prices. Even if I paid a little extra, no big deal. CHECK YOUR OIL PRICES TODAY, you will be shocked !I Just paid $2.24.9 a gallon for oil when several ""full service oil dealers"" offered me $1.69. I paid these people 40% more for oil. Yes, and Coan tried to justify this to me with their corporate rhetoric that other companies won't deliver my oil or bad service? I have a service contract as well. I do not want to think about how much more $$$ I have paid them over 16 years. A little extra for oil is one thing. This is way over the top here. Here is the moral of the story, big companies have high overhead, so what? They can buy more oil at once than a smaller companies They are still passing on all their overhead and expenses on to me? Shame on me for not being on top of it and for Coan, you are greedy !! Framingham, Marlboro, Sudbury, or wherever, you are, you are getting your pocket picked. more

Very good customer service 5/12/2011

All companies want to make money but Coan Oil takes customers’ satisfaction as number 1 priority. They do their best to provide excellent customer service. We installed the hot water boiler from Coan oil in September, 2009. The boiler has slow leak. We found out last year but didn’t make the call thought it is under life time warranty. I was told that the life time warranty is covered for the boiler, and the labor only cover for one year. My labor warranty was expired when I call in April of 2011. I wasn't happen but I agreed to pay the labor out my own pocket. Two weeks ago, Coan reinstalled a new hot water boiler for me. The labor cost was $303. Yesterday, I received a letter that Coan oil waved this charge for me as a good will. I do appreciate this. Things not always go smooth regardless which company you go with. Everybody wants to go with the best. I am telling you Coan oil is the best !!! more

Coan Oil Sales Representative 6/11/2010

I've been a customer of Coan Oil for 24 years. Recently, I inquired about their "Cash for Clunkers Furnace" program based on a brochure they sent me. After leaving several messages on the office phone of the furnace sales representative, I finally received a return call on his cell phone. After asking him a very basic question about whether a new furnace would burn at a higher temperature and emit less ash on my rooftop, his cell phone suddenly went dead and he never bothered to call me back. I issued a complaint to the main office and have never received a response. more

Mislead Customer to purchase a new boiler 4/8/2007

The company's salesman mislead customer to purchase a new boiler.\r \r After the installation, the new boiler looks completely different than product ads shows. \r \r The new boiler makes much louder noise than the old boiler does. The old boiler was more than 40 years old. \r \r The newly installed burner leaked gallons of heating oil on the floor. It could set my house on fire if I was not at home. \r \r I have digital pictures. Email me if you want to see them while you try to decide if you should do business with this company. Pros: Good service people Cons: Bad salesman more

Excellent service 7/26/2005

I've used Coan's services for so many different things. Primarily, we have had a service contract for oil deliveries and service on our oil furnace. When our heat when out on a freezing cold evening, the technician was there fast, was very friendly, and fixed the problem immediately. In addition, he noticed there was a problem with our hot water heater (which Coan does not service). Without the tech noticing this, we would have had a mess in the basement. The oil is not cheap, but you can sign a contract in the summer to lock in the rate, which helps a lot. We also contracted with Coan to put in central air conditioning in our house. We were very happy with the technicians, who worked fast and did a clean job. PROS: Good service, responsible CONS: Oil isn't cheap more
