Our pup is happy at Club Pet 10/11/2009

At the recommendation of a friend we decided to check out Club Pet as a boarding facility. We took our 9 month old puppy with us. We were very pleased and boarded our dog there for 5 days. We took advantage of their wonderful trainer James and had him work with our pup on her basic obedience. She is a German Shepherd so she loves to work. We were thrilled to see the results. We have gone back twice since to work with James and our dog cannot wait to get in the door. We plan to be customers here for a long time. The staff is wonderful and our dog appears to like it there. more

Don't Board Your Pets! 8/11/2009

My Husband took our dog at Club pet on a Friday for a week long stay and as my five year old daughter tries to give the dog a hug one of the staff members snatches the dog from my husband and says " Lets not make this any worse that it already is" (This just starts our story) He took with her twenty pounds of her own dog food with as she is on a special diet along with a measuring cup and instructed the staff at club pet how much to feed her. (which was approximately a pound and a half a day) on Wednesday I get a call from Club pet that they are out of food, and their excuse was "oh it must have gotten spilled or something" but we will have to go get her more and charge you for it! So I argued Why is this my fault and I was told "Well we need to feed your dog so We will take care of it ( and they still charged me!) The worst part of all was when we went to pick up the dog she had sores all over her elbows where they just let her lay out on the concrete and nobody checked on her. Her more

I worked there.... read this!!! 7/13/2009

I used to work at club pet back in 2006, let me say that i liked working here, they have 4 kennel areas, Main (off of the kitchen,) Crew (parts for small dogs that cant bare the elements) and L (where we put Labs, and larger dogs) *L is completely closed in* and Lock out (it has out door and indoor runs) the runs are 3 feet by 12 witha trap door to shut them in at night when its cold rainy or whatever,,,our morning chores (out of our 12 hour day) are feeding and watering the dogs, check for sick ones, take the dogs from the kitchen area out to go to the bathroom bring the dogs to the grooming room that were going home, they were bathed and brushed and waited to go home..... when a sick dog was found we would call a local vet and she would come and examine the dog... sometimes the owner was called and the dog was sent home otherwise it was taken to the infirmary and watched closer.and then play times... play times were extra, they were like 50 dollars on top of the 35 or some... most pe more

Insider Scoop: Avoid at All Costs! 7/1/2009

Okay, I have never boarded my dog at Club Pet but I have known 2 people who worked there and from what I've heard about the kennel from them I never would board my dog there! First of all, there are rats... yes, rats! Huge rats apparently, whose population was kept down only by the snakes that also lived there, that is, until they were able to get rid of those. Secondly, "prince & princess", "duke & duchess", etc. packages? Yeah right! The dogs never leave their run. And then there are the horrific stories of dogs who escaped and got hit by cars, and that's only the beginning.By the way, look closely at those first three 5-star reviews, 2 of them written on the same day and the other a few days before all by "anonymous", all equally glowing with no negative or even neutral feedback... I agree with another reviewer, HIGHLY SUSPECT!!! more

Dont board here...IT'S UNSAFE FOR YOUR ANIMAL. 3/17/2009

So my wife and I left our two Huskies here for a recent holiday...and we will never go back again. After coming back home, both of our dogs had developed intestinal illnesses. Both had very bad diarrhea for 3-4 days. When we called the staff, they stated that the illnesses they had developed were a normal part of boarding a dog and that they weren't responsible.\r \r After going to our vets office, our vet scolded us for going to Club Pet. We couldn't believe it. Our vets office, in Fairfax County, was aware of how poor a facility Club Pet is. When speaking to our friends about our experience, one of our friends, a dog owner, scolded us as well for using Club Pet.\r \r We felt so badly for our dogs. If we had only done a little bit of research, we would have realized that Club Pet is unsafe and has a very poor and notorious history in Northern Virginia. Fortunately, no long term sequelae has befallen our dogs and they are still as healthy as ever.\r \r A note; some of the previous "positive" more

We were not pleased 12/3/2008

Due to last minute plans to visit this area this was the only kennel with space available over Thanksgiving. When I dropped my dog off they would not allow me to see where she would be kept and they took her away to be inspected for fleas. Which she has never had. I was shown a small section of runs and the kitchen area. There was an unpleasant odor in the kitchen such as old food. In the exercise area a dog was being walked on a leash up and down the area, no playing, no interaction. When I picked her up her feet were wet and her fur was sticky. The attendant explained that she sprayed her with a scent and her feet were wet from the runs being cleaned. I don't expect my dog to be in the run when it is being cleaned or put in it while it is still wet. After getting her in the car the terrible odor from her was almost overpowering. She was only there two days. After getting her home she was very itchy and I found small welts and bumps on the back tops of her back legs. I will more

DON'T USE CLUB PET 8/21/2007

I should preface this review by saying that I don't give bad reviews regularly, nor am I a psycho pet owner that never kennels her dog. We have used Club Pet on several occasions and have always been happy. Unfortunately, on our dog's last 10-day stay, he came back in very poor condition. He had what our vet thought could be a chemical burn on his back with 100s of little blisters and oozing scabs (although she and the other vets in their office could not be sure of the cause - they had never seen anything like it before). He stayed overnight at the vet's office and was loaded up with steroids and antibiotics. Fortunately he is fine now. We found out that another dog boarded there at the same time had the same problem and that dog's vet didn't know what the problem was either. We spoke to Club Pet on several occasions and although they tried to be helpful, they refused to give us any of our money back. Honestly, that is a really poor business practice since something clearly h more

my 2 dogs luv club pet 5/23/2007

My dogs are wild about Club Pet. The kennel runs are very large and can easily accommodate my 2 100 pounders who hate to be separated. They always come home tired(from playing all day!) and very happy. The Club Pet staff is very knowledgeable. I can tell they truly are animal lovers. I highly recommend Club Pet. more

My experience at Club Pet 5/23/2007

I have used many kennels in the Northern Virginia area. When I first went to Club Pet I thought they were to busy to take care of me and my dogs the way that I expected, they had a line of about 20 people and their pets waiting to check in. I was wrong. The staff was very pleasant and the dogs came home in great condition, in fact they wanted to go back in the door as we were leaving. Now that we have used their service many times, my guys know when we are getting close to the kennel, and start getting excited until they get through the door. more

my dog can't wait to go 5/18/2007

At first I was worried about leaving my dog for boarding. By the third visit, my dog could not wait to get in the door, and pulled the attendant to get back into the kennel area. The staff was very nice, and knew my dog's name by sight, and " Nadine " just loves going there. more
